Alphabet bowl. I was inspired by my friend @jenniferwilkinpenick to create a bowl of fruit that morphed into a bowl of letters on the corner of a napkin. For the last year, I have had a minimal amount of time to spend on my art. Where I would spend hours first thing in the morning doing art I might have 10 minutes now. Creating art in spurts of time I dont get to warm up and go as deeply but the new normal is what I have and I’m grateful for the time! Thanks for following along. #dailyart #artheals #fabriccollage by @irenerafael

Paper felted pigeon and the flock I saw on my walk this morning. I have been asked about the process. I’m learning and will show a demo soon . #pigeonlove #rivieravillage #paperfelting by @irenerafael

New art techniques always get my heart racing. I couldn’t wait to try a 500 year-old Korean paper technique late last night after driving halfway across the city to get supplies. I just tore pieces of paper to try as a test. Then I couldn’t wait to post today. So here’s my first tester. Definitely will do more today….maybe I’ll do pigeons! #paperfelting #experimentalart by @irenerafael

Possessed by pigeons. They started off in soft pink and grey watercolor. But are asking for more color. Okay, I answered. I’m up for the transformation. Expect to see more as they morph. Also get a glimpse of a little group seen on a rooftop on my morning beach walk. #pigeonlove #dailyart #redondobeach by @irenerafael

Fab Five Pink Pigeons. My dad and grandfather raised homing pigeons in our back yard. Nothing was really explained because I was a kid. They built a large cage that you could stand and walk around in. It was fun to observe. My dad would periodically pack a bunch of the birds in a cage in the back our Ford station wagon and drive away. He came back with the cage empty. When I asked where the birds were, he said they’re flying home. He opened the door to their cage and sure enough after some time they flew back. #pink #pigeons #familystory #artheals by @irenerafael

Since I can’t settle on a project, there’s always ink drawings and watercolor. I’m aiming to do a drawing a day documenting my days and what I see wherever I am. I’m find finding that having a simple goal helps. I finished the Sketchbook and a friend gave me a cute little yellow one that I will carry in my purse. How about you? Here are a few of my recent pages. #sketchbook #drawing #dailydrawing by @irenerafael

I found this in one of my journals. Say it. Think it. Paint it. Glue it. Tear it. This is all grist for the meal. Judgment does not help. Let it fly and you will too. #mixedmedia #journalentry #dailyart #artheals thanks for visiting today! by @irenerafael

Days 96-100. I did it, created every day! Some days were better and easier than others but I learned that having a gentle nudge was enough if a goal to motivate me on the days when I could have passed. I liked having an open ended project where I could choose each day what I would do. Perhaps another time I could stick to one technique or medium, for example drawing with a pen. I needed the open-ended flexibility to keep it fun and playful. @dothe100dayproject These are prints using #bleedingtissuepaper and some pen work and #monoprints. #dothe100dayproject #artheals by @irenerafael
