In the bitter, unforgiving expanse of the frozen Antarctic, where the wind cuts like glass and temperatures drop past forty below, a miracle of pure warmth unfolds. An Emperor penguin stands tall against the gale, bending down to meet the fragile, shivering form of its hungry chick.

Infinitely grateful to experience such a moment and to be able to capture it in a photo.

Is there anything more beautiful than a group of elephants under the vast African sky?

The elephant is one of my spirit animals (OMG, now I’m going full woo-woo). But it’s true, when I am feeling down, I think about elephants and how they roam through the African wilderness.

Now it’s becoming fact-based again:

For thousands of years, elephants moved across vast areas of Africa. This movement allowed different groups to mix, creating strong genetic diversity.

Just two days ago, a major new genetic study has revealed how African elephants are now becoming increasingly isolated as their habitats shrink.

That’s not good news, for the elephants but also for people whose spirit animal is the elephant!
