Bad weather joke

Some work in progress ♠️

The printed puppets are on a matte paper that renders deep colours and an almost velvety black (not as obvious in the pictures, looks much better irl)

Image no. 3 is the first test puppet on standard printer paper.
I wanted to do visible joints at first, but went for the hidden option in the end.

The designs have a few flaws that I will fix in future versions. I’m also thinking of deviating a bit(or maybe a lot?) from the standard card characters in the future

Ever wondered what sort of life these kings and queens have while playing card games?

I used to as a kid, especially when playing solitaire on windows 98. Still remember all the options for the design on the back of the cards, I always picked the palm tree or the dark castle.

Also the crazy animation at the end of the game ♠️

Did these papercut puppets on a whim, might do all the characters and animate them sometime

Queen of hearts is an anonymous traveller,
A fine observer of inner worlds.
Queen of hearts is a spy in a trenchcoat,
A gracious weightlifter.
She is a renowned botanist, writing all her essays under a pen name, because everybody will listen to a King.
Queen of Hearts keeps her heart where you can see it, sewn close to the fabric, with all it’s cracks and missing pieces turned to the inside, so it won’t break that easily.
