Convincing you out of the MD/PhD

I’ve seen too many people drop out and waste their time as well as a spot for a future physician-scientist. Also not great if you just don’t know what to do after grad!

Research is hard. science does what it wants. collaborators are doing their own thing. No time to make edits in the middle of rotations and shelf exams. I whine but I shall persist!

When a speaker stuffs too much in one talk then rushes to finish, it’s hard to stay engaged!

Cut your slides and aim for a shorter duration, then you can speak more deeply about what you keep in the presentation. An easy fix!

Depending on the hospital it can be a magical place

Then you can leave the resident snacks for the residents who also very much need snacks for survival

Definitely read this article

Thought of this in the middle of reading A Lab of One’s Own: One Woman’s Personal Journey through Sexism in Science by Rita Colwell, PhD. Great read and mildly infuriating.
