When the same question is asked again and again, compassion matters.

For a person living with dementia, repeated questions are not always a choice. Changes in memory can make them forget that they have already asked, or forgotten the answer they received.

Responding with frustration may make them feel confused, embarrassed, or distressed. Instead, try to pause, stay patient, and respond with reassurance.

They may not remember your answer, but they can remember how you made them feel.
