Level up your sculpting skills on the torch with Kim Thomas’, @iroczii - @kimberlythomasart, 5-day flameworking workshop, “Fluidity & Fluency”, May 26 – 30! This workshop focuses on cultivating technical proficiency and material fluency while exploring the sculptural possibilities of borosilicate glass. In the flameshop, students will build upon fundamental techniques to create more complex constructions, deepen their understanding of the material, and build confidence as sculptors. Beyond technical refinement, narrative exploration will be incorporated into class projects, guiding participants to develop a personal sculptural dialect and articulate stories through form and detail. Instruction will include both group and individual demonstrations, with emphasis on process, craftsmanship, and the progressive expansion of creative expression.This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Tuesday through Saturday, with additional studio time Tuesday through Friday, from 5pm to 9pm. About Kim:Kimberly Thomas is a biracial interdisciplinary sculptor and flameworker. Her narrative works are sculptural illustrations of a re-imagined world, fabrications of obscure inventions, alternate realities, and speculative futures. Her stories describe a pilgrimage through time, space, and dimensions. Drawing influence from concepts, questions, and theories about human nature, Thomas’s works are a ground to explore the truth, be it flawed, darkly humorous, or peculiar, yet they speak to the stark realities of human existence.
