Ryan Heath’s Path: From Irondequoit Star to Division I Opportunity

Ryan Heath, the 5’11” guard from Rochester and Irondequoit High School, is now a St. Bonaventure Bonnie.

In late April/early May 2026, Heath committed to the Bonnies, following head coach Mike MacDonald from Daemen. The official announcement came on May 5. He is listed as a senior on the 2026-27 roster, wearing jersey #5.

MacDonald called him “the ultimate team guy” — someone who prioritizes winning, brings consistent energy, and still has room to grow.

High School Dominance

At Irondequoit, Heath left no doubt. He finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,094 career points. In 2023 he was named All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year, earned First Team honors twice, and helped lead the Eagles to a Section V championship and a state runner-up finish.

College Production

At Daemen (2023–26), Heath steadily earned a bigger role and produced:

• Career: 6.1 PPG, 1.8 APG, 2.0 RPG on 50% shooting across 93 games
(565 points, 172 assists, 188 rebounds, 76 steals)

• Junior season (2025-26): Career-high averages of 9.8 PPG, 2.8 APG, 3.1 RPG, and 1.3 SPG in 28.2 minutes per game over 35 contests. He shot an efficient 51.1% from the field — ranking in the top 10 of the East Coast Conference in field-goal percentage, field goals made, and steals. He scored in double figures 21 times and was a two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week.

Over Heath’s three seasons, Daemen posted an impressive .878 winning percentage, going 10-3 against ranked opponents and 21-6 against eventual NCAA Tournament teams.

Heath is a local Rochester product who took the opportunity in front of him, performed, and is now making the jump to Division I (Atlantic 10) with built-in system familiarity under MacDonald. As of mid-August 2026, he remains on the Bonnies roster with no major injury or performance updates beyond the transfer itself. He has already appeared at local St. Bonaventure events in the Rochester area.

The numbers show a player who improved every year and maximized his chances. #newrecruitmedia #newrecruitpodcast #ryanheath by @irondequoithoops
