Black River Gyuto

More often than not I don’t really plan out patterns in steel. I have an idea but I’m mostly winging it. But with this one I had a pretty clear vision and it happened to come out just right.

Beach house set: Custom western, filet, parer and shucker in 14c23n high carbon stainless, sapele wood with an oceanic resin inlay.

Cheers to 10 years!

Iron Grove officially began mid-September 2016 in a small barn on our Texas hill country homestead. So this week makes 10 years forging steel full time, laboring in a craft I love to provide for our little family.

New Signature Collection hit the website over the weekend as we begin celebrating our 10 year anniversary.
This small batch is all about our proprietary steels: layers of high carbon Damascus among folds of bronze, copper and nickel.

Making steel is something I’ve often said is my favorite part of the process, still full of failures and surprise success, and has taken so much time and effort to develop over the years that it really brings to the front of my mind how much things have changed since our beginning.

And what will never change: Hand crafted for life.
