Toughest race in Asia? Without a doubt. โœ…

Brutal course that humbles you and tests every limit you have. The only way forward was one relentless step at a time. Kaafi band baja ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

From fighting massive 6ft sea waves on the swim to a brutal hilly bike leg and relentless inclines on the runโ€”it was like Goa IM on steroids (IYKYK). ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ

Super happy to get this done. Time to chill and relax ๐Ÿบ

Race report | Ironman Copenhagen
Long post alert ๐Ÿšจ

To begin with I must admit that even though the Ironman race was a brutal one and I endured a lot of pain but I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I raced with a lot of gratitude in my heart and smile on my face. I just hope to keep learning and growing in this wonderful sport of triathlon. Also this wasnโ€™t possible without the backbone of my training @lalimachhabra

๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ To swim in a lagoon was tricky, with cold temperatures (+ rain) and a lot of sea vegetation, it did feel intimidating. Iโ€™ve practiced a lot in my small little pool but to swim for 3.8kms in such conditions, I had to mentally prepare myself. I found my rhythm after 500m and then there was no stopping. What seemed intimidating at start, became one of my best swims. It only shows how this sport is all about mind games, your body is ready when your mind is.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธThe countryside of Copenhagen was a dream to ride on. It was just spectacular! It was raining for the first two hours, but the scenery around me was a pretty good distraction. I managed a good cadence till about 90k when I started having major stomach pains. I ate a few more gels than expected and it didnโ€™t digest well. I had to stop twice to stretch, give my gut a break but the pain persisted till the very end. Thanks to the route and some tail winds I managed to wrap up bike in good time.

Long post alert ๐Ÿšจ

Iโ€™ve been meaning to share my experience of witnessing labor up close because itโ€™s something that has stayed with meโ€”and I know it always will.

Leading up to the birth, Lali was clear about wanting to do everything naturallyโ€”no epidural, no medical interventions etc. I supported her, but I donโ€™t think I fully understood the strength it would take until I saw her go through it. On February 17th, as the contractions intensified, I saw a side of her I had never seen beforeโ€”calm, determined, and fiercely strong.

When the doctor asked if she wanted an epidural in the thick of things, I looked at her, half-expecting her to change her mind. But without a second thought, she firmly said no. What followed was both humbling and awe-inspiring. I held her hand, watched her push through wave after wave of pain, and yet there was no panic, no fearโ€”just an unshakable resolve to bring our baby into the world on her terms.

I looked around and found our 2 best friends @vas_j @kanupriyakesari , who stood by us like a rock inside the delivery room. Women standing up for women, through and through.

One thing that struck me was how rare it is for men to stay in the labor room for the entire process. Many step in briefly, but I had the privilege to be there the whole time. And honestly, my Ironman training kicked inโ€”not for me, but for Lalima. I pushed her to dig deep, to find every ounce of strength she had, and she did.

This experience has changed me. It made me realize just how extraordinary women are, how much they endure, and how we, as men, will never truly understand their strength and struggle. It was the most powerful thing I have ever witnessed, and I will carry this moment with me forever. Lali will kill me for posting this on Womenโ€™s day but the timing is accidental. Thanks Lali for being you and our Fiza darling ๐Ÿค

Also a big shout out to our Doula @themaalife for being our guiding light ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿค— by @ironman_sid

Ironman Desaru Coast 70.3 | Post Race thoughts ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Last two videos are the highlight of the trip ๐ŸŒธ

Some races are built to humble you. They strip you down to the bare bones and remind you, in no uncertain terms, that this sport is not for the faint of heart.

Itโ€™s because of Lali and our little that every grueling mile was worth it. She might be too young to remember the details, but I hope she feels the strength of that moment when she looks back.

Thanks coach for powering through my random routines and tantrums, you are the best @coachdeepakraj

Kudos to team @ironman70.3desarucoast for organising this event so beautifully, such a tough course but the volunteers and the team behind made it such a smooth ride overall ๐Ÿ‘

Onto my next adventure ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

The Swim: Starting a race like this can throw every plan straight into the binโ€”and it definitely did mine. Seven-foot walls of water crashing down, turning navigation into pure, chaotic survival.

The ocean took my goggles early, leaving me blind to the course and relying entirely on instinct. There was no strategy left. No finesse. Just a relentless mantra against the tide: keep swimming.

Mantra for every race - always smile for the cameras ๐Ÿ“ธ

The Bike: Stunning scenery, but relentless undulating hills. Outside of a few flat kilometers, it was a constant battle of elevation. I stayed disciplined with nutrition, managed a solid effort, and rode into T2 feeling proud of the execution.

The Run: This is where the race tested my soul. Non-stop hills, soaring heat, and GI issues left me completely depleted. My spirit took a heavy hit. It devolved into a grit-it-out run-walk strategy with a single mantra repeating in my head: Do not quit.

Like I said, always smile for the cameras!

Crossing that finish line at the toughest race of my life was pure relief and gratitude. Honestly you can clearly see that I relieved that itโ€™s over. This race will be a reminder for me to work even harder and work on my flaws. Getting back to it with more motivation and a better game plan!

This race was extra specialโ€”it was Fizaโ€™s very first as a spectator and I hope she gets to spectate many more of these jo taken in Desaru Coast by @ironman_sid

Looking back at a massive month of training. More miles, deeper consistency, and learning to just enjoy the everyday rhythm of showing up. Fueling the work with carbs and loving the burn.
