Went ham on a new intro to me and my work! Consider this a mini meet the artist as I kick off a new chapter :) For those who may have missed it, I left MAKE in June and am excited to share I’m now repped by @fourthwallmanagement for all my entertainment work! And I have a lot cooking, cause there’s a lot of stories I can’t wait to make. This was obviously heavily inspired by the 70’s soviet illustrations I was raised on! by @ironnatalia

Exclusive: YouTube-native indie sci-fi comedy 'Sunny Side Down' debuts its finale today after a three-year production, closing out a six-episode run that has already racked up more than 1.2 million views.

Set in a dingy space diner, the series uses a clever 3D-built environment with 2D characters, vector linework in Toon Boom Harmony, and stylized lighting to spoof genre conventions with a distinct yet familiar (and always copyright-compliant) look.

For the finale's premiere, we spoke with creator Natalia Poteryakhin about her process, the challenges of serialized production, and what comes next for the ready-for-TV project.

Our full feature and lots of BTS artwork are linked in our bio.

In the beginning, God created something out of nothing…because she felt like it :) This is the story of how God’s relationship with her creations evolved over time. Bravo, @ironnatalia, for this metaphorical film that feels timeless yet also very 2026.

The inspiration for "CREATOR" in Natalia's own words: "The story explores what it means to be an artist through the metaphor of being the original creator. I am not religious, but I wondered how if I was a god, would I not be so in love with people? To have humanity make incredible fanart of your world, over and over again... even if people get carried away and go too far." by @ironnatalia

I was just on an incredible trip and did a lot of plein air- wanted to try out procreate dreams to give some little life to the moments. First experiment with the program- loving the textures, though the timeline selection features I’m not sure about? Seems weirdly limited in selecting/transforming multiple frames? If I’m just stupid and missing it let me know guys haha taken in Lucerne, Switzerland by @ironnatalia

I forgot to ever share that I designed the official Sunny Side Down poster! it's in the Make Originals shop, if you ever want it. Funny thing was it was only when I drew this poster that I thought, hm, maybe I do know how to draw these characters finally after two years of directing 😆 Important note that the diner was not drawn by me, but Aaron Quist as an asset! Menghan Wang I think pitched in on some space rocks too :) and black hole by our motion designer rockstar at the time, Alec Soelle. ALL episodes out now, link in bio :) by @ironnatalia

I couldn't decide which colorway on this sketch, so I decided to stop sitting on it, give you BOTH so you can GO BACK the limited time kickstarter for the amazing @wishbone_animation folks to make Where is Tracy Maddison! They're already fully backed... but since the original goal was just animatic, I wanna see those animated scenes and every stretch goal! by @ironnatalia
