You can have everything and feel like you have nothing. You can have nothing and yet feel like you have everything. The one and only thing that separates the two is the presence of God. Even in the deepest parts of the world, where the names of Yeshua and Jesus are unknown, he is still active. The Emberá people have a beautiful culture and way of life that I was blessed to share. They taught me many things about their unique lifestyles and I will never forget the bonds and memories that I made there. They have made a massive impact on my life and have given me a new perspective. If there is anything I hope they learned from me it’s that; Jesus is not a gringo God. Jesus himself wasn’t a gringo and even if he was, that doesn’t and shouldn’t matter. God’s love transcends all and our goal as Christians should be to try and replicate that boundless love to everyone regardless of religion, nationality, ethnicity, culture, gender or race. Culture should be celebrated and honored, never downplayed. The more we honor and learn about the culture of others, the less ignorant our world will be.
