I still remember when Jesus opened my eyes to Him for the first time. I was just a kid at a camp, and everything changed. It was there that I encountered the love of God in a way that felt personal, real, and impossible to ignore.

That’s why camp ministry will always be so special to me. I know firsthand how God uses these weeks to get the attention of teenagers from every background and every walk of life. Rich or poor. Black or white. The athlete, the outcast, the church kid, the skeptic. Jesus meets people right where they are.

This week at Shocco Springs was life giving in more ways than I can count. We witnessed stories of salvation, repentance, forgiveness, restoration, healing, and people finding their way back to the heart of God.

There were more than 1,200 people on campus this week. 1,200 unique stories and names; and what amazes me most is that the Creator of the universe knows every single one of them, sees them, loves them, and has been pursuing them long before they ever arrived at camp, holding every moment of their lives in His hands.

And this is only the beginning.

Summer tour has just begun, and there are nine more weeks of ministry ahead. Nine more weeks of watching God transform lives. Nine more weeks of seeing students discover that Jesus is better than anything this world could ever offer.

As I sit here reflecting on week one, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with gratitude. The fact that Jesus would rescue an eight year old kid like me all those years ago and now allow me to serve Him in this way feels almost too good to be true.

Chance after chance // the grace and mercy of God is unfathomable. Who is man that the king of the universe is mindful of us? He’s the one who doesn’t leave or forsake, provides us with every good thing, welcomes us home time and time again in spite of our rebellion….this song feels personal. I know exactly where I’d be were it not for the grace of God….may we never grow tired of telling the Father how grateful we are. by @isaacpittman
