These have been the most difficult things I’ve ever welded. These are 1/4” and 1/8” od tubes. One side is about 20 thousandths wall thickness and the other is 5 thousandths (yes, 0.005”). The Lincoln Invertec we have at work only goes down to 6 amps. I had to run through a bunch of pulse settings to get the right combo to get average amps around 4 and even then if I wasn’t going the EXACT right speed, it would burn through. We machined a copper heat sink to help but even that needed to be precisely placed to not suck too much heat and prevent melting. We machined a shoulder into the thick wall to help fuse the two and I would sit in the thick wall until a puddle formed then “weave” the tungsten across the gap rapidly while it was spinning in our custom positioner. We had to backpurge and then shut the flow on the back purge off and release any pressure of it would just instantly blow out. This took dozens of failures and weeks of trial and error to get but eventually I got them welded and passing pressure test. The first one just came back from coating and is clean as well (so no sugaring inside). Proud of the accomplishment even if the weld isn’t show quality. by @isaacvimont

Club member wanted his 3/4 width swing arm on his Slee bumper extended and a bracket added for a Slee Scepter can holder. Also wanted holes cut for reverse lights. Arm extension was sleeved with 2x2 .250 wall for peace of mind. by @isaacvimont

Feel good about some beads you just laid down? Take a picture of it and look at the photo an hour later. That’ll take the wind out of your sails. 🤣 by @isaacvimont

These were black mill scale covered tubes and black oxide clamps. Muriatic acid cleans both very nicely. Always so it outside and with a respirator on but if you need to strip scale, and keep a nice finish, highly recommended. by @isaacvimont

@themightyredchili this is the solution I have for the R151 shifter since it sits so far forward on a 3.4 bellhousing. This puts the shifter in approx the stock location. It works really well (on the bench). I never ran it in the truck due to some other issues with the trans (busted 2nd gear tooth). Feels identical to the factory and is really tight. by @isaacvimont
