NAT’L DOC coming to ROC‼️🇺🇸
As we just cleebrated (and hopefully deeply reflected) on America’s milestone birthday, my civic history senses have been spiking🔥

Living in #Rochester - I mean, what a wonderful community to be so inspired in, from Susan B. Anthony House & Museum - one of the most iconic people of the suffragette movement, arrested for voting *because she was a woman, to Frederick Douglass - the formerly enslaved and renowned abolitionist and orator who called this community home for decades…this season has made me truly appreciate the need for fearless advocacy to help shape the direction of values for future generations.

Thrilled to officially have a date and time selected for a FREE local screening of the @momsfirstus @culturehousemedia record-breaking documentary @nocountryformothers!!!

This film is truly validating in so many ways 😌
I found myself going through the 7-stages of grief trying to “figure it all out” after having kids, until you learn it’s all designed to be that way… shoutout to @reshmasaujani for her history lessons in the Motherhood Lecture series (🔗https://youtu.be/bHsyT_qOg6Q?is=XjBEqf85UUlcr9ZH) showing historic context as to how we got to the state of the current motherhood crisis, rooted in man made denied access to equal education for women.

Welp, I have a 6-year-old son now 🥹

Glad I mentioned I recorded this on the 22nd (almost like I knew it was going to take a min to post 🤓). What often surprises me when one of my children celebrates a birthday is how much the other also grows in that moment.

The big girl is having more 8-year-old mentalities and decided to not go to sleep until like 11pm 🙃 excited for her bro and summer!

Really appreciated the recent post from @drbeckyatgoodinside about #pandemic parents taking time to really reflect on their journey. I had covered the nuance of relationships with pandemic parents and their children when I hosted Parenting Plus:

With all the time passed now, realizing my mom had died from the accidental OD just 8 months before giving birth to my son, realizing I happen to be in NYS which had rolled out paid leave in 2018, watching my husband and mother-in-law turn into full time caregiver for my father-in-law on hospice, it’s extremely clear, everyone has a need for the most precious resource: time.

Today, I feel even more passionate about the need for #America to have a #paidleave policy, which is why I’m so grateful to be a part of @momsfirstus as an Associate Producer for @nocountryformothers

It was an honor and privilege to be among 10 moms invited to attended ~ and felt incredibly proud to rep moms in #Rochester!

It was a major personal moment to meet @reshmasaujani ~ one of the reasons I felt brave enough to put “mom of two” at the top of my resume when applying to jobs after having my second baby in during the pandemic 😊💪

Inspiring to see the powehouse of speakers following the viewing, including @ericakomisar @keds_economist @raeshem among others!

And the stars truly did align after learning a fellow mom I was sitting next to is also a @templeuniv @templealumni! @still_keish 🦉🍒 #OwlsAreEverywhere by @isabel_g_strohl

A very special trip to NYC 🌃✨♥️🎥

Very honored to be sharing my experiences of motherhood, alongside more than 2k other mothers and caregivers, as part of a growing movement showcasing the realities of being a parent in America today with @momsfirstus in the documentary @nocountryformothers 🇺🇸

My mom died of an accidental overdose in 2019. It was Xylazine - more potent than heroine and even greater potency than Fentanyl- and not an opioid. It was inbetween my daughter’s birth in 2018 and my son’s in 2020. Yes. That 2020.

So deeply grateful for my husband, whohas been the beat to my heart ♥️ he is from NY where #paidleave was first rolled out when we had our daughter. #paidleaveforall

It is a blessing to be invited to the #premiere TONIGHT!

👟👟But the sneakers were already at school!!

A follow up from the initial post about a typical Tuesday in June as a #parent in #America

Aside from the #mentalload of making sure the specific kids’ field day event was scheduled and communicated, outfits prepared, sunscreen, etc….

…the teacher reached out to me on the parent app after the event to check in and review what happened, also saying they should have checked the kids’ shoes. A super kind gesture (cue, more mental load for crafting a balanced response 😅 teacher is also a new mom this year) by @isabel_g_strohl

After working as a local news #journalist for more than 12 years, I recently switched careers to PR!

*Redefining MOM BRAIN! 🧠

Okay, this has been a geek-out convo I've been super eager to have forever ~ when I started seeing posts about a study appearing in Nature.com showing 'mom brain' as actually totally remodeling in preparation and organization for having a baby, it felt like something clicked.

(*results are from one study performed by a physician over the course of pre-during-and-post pregnancy)

It was incredibly exciting to have @pagingdrfran by our @news8_wroc studios in #Roc last fall to talk about this study (link below) for wonderful and engaging insight!

We also discussed other topics including....Paging Dr. Fran's amazing social media reach, committing with hundreds of other physicians to deliver credible medical information online, to access to women's health, new speculum device (like from 180 years), and more!
