Cartello 💗 Happy retirement to my perfect baby. I will love you forever, Cartello. Exactly 2 years, 6 months, and 12 days ago, we won our first champion together. It was only our second time in the show ring as a team. You were always more than just my mom’s horse that she let me ride. You have been my favorite thing in the world for the past few years. I still remember the first time I got to ride you, even if it was just for fun, and we had no plans of going anywhere after that. I was 10 years old and had only ever ridden one horse before this. I was so excited that my mom would let me ride you. The nicest hunter at the barn and a horse version of my pony, Clay. The second I got on you, I loved everything about you, your seahorse neck and cute belly. You were way different than what I was used to, but i a good way. I only got to canter and do a pole or two, but I was already obsessed.

Fast forward a few years, and my mom passed down your ride to me. I got to show you for the first time and we just clicked. I loved you so much and it was like we just understood each other. After that first show, we only got better. Champion after champion, we won so much together. You’ve always made me feel so confident going into the ring, knowing no matter what, you would rise to the occassion. You brought me to so many milestones; my highest score on a horse, zone champion, wchr regional champion, zone team champion... I never thought I could feel this sort of love for a horse again after moving onto horses, but once again you were here to prove me wrong. I am beyond grateful for every moment we spent together. Even though we only ever competed in the Children’s I wouldn’t give it up for the world. I remember having a conversation with my mom and trainers asking me if I would rather move up to do bigger classes or keep you. Of course, I chose you.

Thank you, Cartello, for being so special, for all the memories, and for showing me what it was like to love an amazing horse. I will forever cherish the time we spent together. I hope you enjoy your retirement & know you are so loved, more than I can put into words.

I love you forever,
Isabella by @isabella25.18
