And number 4 was the hardest to come to terms with…1. Your parents’ schedule is now your schedule againAnd that’s an adjustment. Blame it on the door slamming at 6am, dinner suddenly being a group event again, or being asked what your plans are for the day when you’re hungover on a Sunday and just want to rot. Either way, you’re renegotiating a routine you thought you outgrew. 2. The grocery store trip you used to dread is suddenly a whole personality traitTurns out picking your own snacks and cooking on your own time was doing more for your mental health than you realized. 3. You will get asked “what’s the plan” more times than you can countAnd it’s coming from a good place, but it still makes you want to hide in your room like you’re 16 again. 4. After four years of complete independence, it feels like you’re taking 10 steps backwards… and that’s okGrowth isn’t a straight line, and this chapter is still part of the timeline even if it doesn’t look like progress right now. Don’t get so ahead of yourself, you’ll move out when the time is right for you - and that’s time may be different than everyone else’s. 5. Push yourself to stick to the same good routines you had at school, even when you’re living back at home. The habits still countThe gym schedule, the morning routine, the little things that made you feel like you, don’t let them slide just because the environment changed. 6. Your bedroom from age 14 is not who you are anymore and that’s a weird thing to sit withYou’re staring at old posters and trophies while trying to figure out your next move, it’s a strange kind of time travel. 7. This is temporary. Everyone’s timeline looks different right nowComparison is going to creep in. But while you still love your family and being around them, nobody’s post-grad chapter looks the same.
