DEADLY SWIM 💀🏊🏻‍♀️

Everyone my age is getting engaged and I’ve apparently decided to re-enter my competitive athlete era instead…

First open water event. First hybrid race. And somehow, one of the first people in the world to compete in the first-ever Deadly Swim event 💀

Less than 10 days of prep and only 3 open water swims later… top 10 female and one of the fastest swim splits of the day 🫡

Considering I’m currently battling an auto-immune condition, I’m actually incredibly proud of this one. Turns out the competitive swimmer might still be in there somewhere… although she did fall into the pain cave fairly early 🫪

Also, whoever decided push press and weighted plate carries should come immediately after swimming is genuinely evil.

Lots to learn. Lots to improve. Apparently spending 93% of a race in Zone 1 and 2 means I could’ve suffered significantly more 😂 So now we train properly, work on that lactate threshold and see what happens 👀

A massive thank you to all the judges who pushed me through when things got painful and were absolutely incredible all day. Events like this are exactly why I’ve fallen in love with the fitness community and competing all over again 🫶🏼

Great prep for my Hybrid journey, a reminder that I absolutely love racing, and potentially the beginning of an open water swimming obsession…
