What does it mean to hear Olive’s name? It means everything.

Today is @rednoseaustralia say their name day.

People often don’t know what to say, so they choose silence. Usually in fear of saying the wrong thing or upsetting you. But if I can say one thing, it is this: saying Olive’s name will never upset me. As beautifully said by @gilbertscake , “If tears well in my eyes when you mention them, it is not because you’ve upset me, but because I am touched by your kindness.”

This day is a reminder to say our babies’ names. To remember that they are our entire worlds, and that does not change just because they are not here.

If Olive were here, I would share her every day without a second thought. So I will continue to share her now too.
Sadly, sometimes I question myself before I post about Olive because I don’t want to annoy people or make people feel like they need to give me sympathy - it shouldn’t be like that. The truth is, I just want to share her because I love her and I miss her so much. We need to keep breaking the stigma so parents never feel like their babies should not be spoken about.

Thank you @rednoseaustralia for creating awareness, starting conversations and supporting families like ours. Today and every day, we say their names.

I am so proud to talk about you, my little fighter, forever the bravest girl. Olive, always. by @isabellegoldsmith_

Today is our beautiful baby Olive’s due date. Sometime around now, we should have been getting ready to take you home and begin our life together. I would do anything to go back to that room, to the time I got to spend with you. It shouldn’t be this way. All the memories we have are held within that one room. I love and miss you with everything I have, my perfect baby girl 🩷🩷🩷 by @isabellegoldsmith_

Welcome to Olive and Spice!! 💛🫒A place where I can share food, cooking, and creativity - something that gives my days routine, purpose, and gentle comfort as I move through grief.

This space was never meant to exist like this. Being on maternity leave with no baby is a grief I don’t have words big enough for.

At the moment I’m navigating what it looks like when the life and purpose you imagined is suddenly gone. For me, creating and having something to gently pour my energy into helps me keep moving through the days.

For anyone who knows me, knows that cooking, nourishing, and gathering people around a table is how I’ve always shown love. Food has a way of holding stories, memories, comfort and connection, and it’s something I carry very close to my heart.

Olive is at the centre of this. She is, and always will be my reason. Including her here feels right because everything I do now carries her with it.

There are some exciting things in the works that will allow this passion of mine to give back to the organisations that supported and continue to support families like ours. In the mean time, this is simply an outlet - a place to create, and to keep going, alongside the days where I choose to sit quietly in the grief.

Some days I’ll be cooking, some days I’ll be quiet. Both are allowed here 🤍 by @isabellegoldsmith_

Four weeks ago today you came into this world, and it’s crazy to think we should either have a one month old baby in our arms, or I should be 31 weeks pregnant. Instead, two weeks ago today, we lay you down in your resting place.

Your ceremony was beautiful. The most perfect way to honour you, held together by the people who love us, the ones who stood beside us and carried us through a day we never imagined living. I said leaving you in the hospital was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and burying you was no different. Now I’m realising that every time I visit you and have to walk away, the pain comes back just as strongly as the first time. Leaving you never gets easier.

Postpartum after loss is its own world. It’s agonising. Sleepless nights, not from feeding you or hearing your cry, but from the heartbreak of missing you. My days are spent visiting you, bringing you flowers, eating meals by your side, wishing more than anything that I could bring you home.

There are simply no words for this heartbreak. There aren’t words for the way losing you has changed every part of me. All I know is that loving you is the most powerful, painful, precious thing I will ever experience, and it will always be my greatest honour 🤍🌸✨🌈 by @isabellegoldsmith_
