Like an autumn leaf covered with heavy and dense snow, still hanging on to its branch in the dead winter, I am weighted down by the dark thoughts emerging from deep within. Contemplating, waiting, searching for the warm sun behind the thick clouds to melt away the layers of false belief that is holding me down.

So incredible proud of these individuals who I got to work with during the festival. We created this piece with only seven hours of practice and rehearsal time. Had no idea how my visions and ideas would turn out or even if it was possible. But we did it and so happy with what we presented on the Sunday showcase.

”557,7nm” performed at American Contemporary Skating Festival 2026

Skating to the song ”Norrsken” by Karin Borg. Norrsken means the Northern Lights.
I named the solo ”557.7 nm,” which is the wavelength of the bright green light most commonly produced by the Northern Lights.

Perhaps the only way to truly catch a moment is to let it change you.
While taking inspiration from this natural phenomenon, which is deeply ephemeral, with fleeting moments and unpredictable shapes, I thought about how we sometimes want to capture and freeze those moments to save them forever. What if the best way to do that is just to live in the moment, be present, and embody the experience? In other words, take it all in and let it change you.

Give it up for our 2026 Ricky Harris Scholarship Recipient, Isabelle Ragnarsson & the Ice Theatre of Stockholm! 🏆

We are so excited to welcome Isabelle to the American Contemporary Skating Festival for her to share her ensemble choreography, her solo performance, and her contact improv workshop!

From Isabelle:
“I’ve been a figure skater since 7 years old and an educated dancer and dance pedagogue from the University of the Arts in Stockholm. I am now merging the dancing with my ice skating, experimenting with choreography and different ways of expression and storytelling on ice. Future dream is to have contemporary skating be recognized by a wider audience as a performing arts form.”
