I brought my paintings to Los Angeles to be seen.

But something unexpected happened: people stopped, looked closer, and found something of their own in the work — a memory, a place, a feeling, a piece of their story.

That’s what I’m taking home: the realization that a painting doesn’t end when I finish it. Perhaps it truly begins when someone looks at it and discovers something personal within it.

There is a certain poetry in working on cotton paper.
The paper receives diluted paint as if it needed it, as if it were part of it.

A single mixture of color can reveal itself through infinite transparencies.

Its materiality is light and humble. It doesn’t try to impress or impose itself.

And perhaps that is why I want to return to it, again and again.

Trabajar sobre papel de algodón tiene una poesía.
El papel recibe la pintura aguada como si la necesitara, como si fuera parte de él.

Una misma mezcla de color puede revelarse en infinitas transparencias.

Su materia es liviana y humilde. No pretende imponerse.

Y quizás por eso quiero volver a él una y otra vez.

¿Cómo llevar una obra de arte completa dentro de una maleta? 🌴🎨⛳️

Este es el desafío que tengo por delante.

Fui seleccionada para participar en The Other Art Fair, y esta vez la invitación no era para presentar pinturas, sino para crear una obra de arte jugable.

Soy arquitecta y artista visual. Después de años dedicada principalmente a la pintura, en Reflections of Palm Springs ambas disciplinas se encuentran por primera vez: arquitectura, paisaje, pintura y juego se convierten en una sola obra.

La construí y pinté en mi taller en Chile, pensando desde el comienzo en algo bastante particular: tendrá que desmontarse, viajar desde Chile hasta Los Ángeles dentro de una maleta y volver a armarse allá.

Y, por supuesto, no todo salió a la primera. También tuve que resolver cómo hacer que la obra realmente funcionara como juego. 😅

Por eso he estado tan desaparecida de las redes. He estado completamente concentrada en este proyecto.

Para mí es un enorme orgullo haber sido seleccionada nuevamente para representar mi trabajo en una feria internacional y llevar desde Concón, Chile, una obra que une mi formación como arquitecta con mi práctica como pintora.

Y todavía no está terminada.

Va a estar terminada cuando llegue allá y consiga instalarla.

Esta es Reflections of Palm Springs.
Y esta es recién la primera parte de la historia. 🌴

Conocimos el trabajo de @isascapes, el Internet no ayudó mucho, pero igual resultó y logramos escuchar a la artista!

¿Cuánto me demoré en pintar esto? Nunca sé qué responder — a veces son dos horas, a veces varios días. Pero lo que realmente toma tiempo no se mide en horas: aprender qué dejar, aprender a equivocarme, aprender a mirar 🎨
