Ivan Sergeitsev is a Ukrainian photographer based in Lviv whose work explores masculinity, vulnerability, and emotional presence within the context of war and an oppressive society.

Born in Luhansk and shaped by years living in Kharkiv before relocating to Lviv, Ivan’s personal journey across Ukraine deeply influences the themes of displacement, fragility, intimacy, and psychological tension that run through his photography.

Ivan has only recently begun exploring himself as an artist and exhibiting work publicly.

His work explore tenderness, identity, isolation, and the quiet humanity that often remains hidden beneath expectations of strength and emotional restraint.

“I see photography as an emotional form of storytelling rather than purely visual documentation.

“Many of my images are about emotional states that are difficult to express openly - loneliness, tenderness, uncertainty, vulnerability, or quiet resilience during wartime.

“I work extensively with film and Polaroid photography because I’m drawn to the unpredictability, softness, grain, and physical texture they create.

“I often use cameras such as the Yashica Electro 35 CC, Olympus Mju II, and medium-format systems to produce images that feel tactile and imperfect rather than overly polished.

“My biggest ambition is to create photography projects that remain as emotional and historical documents of this generation — especially queer and male experiences.”
