We believe meaningful change starts with listening, understanding and acting, and that lasting solutions are built with communities, not simply for them.

This is ISDE. And you can be an Ally too!

Most people see development as charity, donations, or temporary interventions.

But at ISDE, we believe meaningful change should go deeper than that.

Real impact does not begin by rushing to solve problems we do not fully understand.
It begins with listening.
With awareness.
With research.
With understanding the lived realities of communities before attempting to intervene.

That belief is what gave birth to the ZADE Framework, the foundation that guides how we think, learn, and build at ISDE.

Z: Zenith (Awareness)
A: Analysis
D: Development
E: Empowerment

For us, this is more than a framework.
It is a reminder that development should be intentional, ethical, and rooted in dignity.

Because awareness without action changes nothing.
And action without understanding can do more harm than good.

Through ZADE, we hope to build solutions that are community-centered, sustainable, and capable of creating long-term impact across Northern Nigeria.

This is how we move from simply caring about problems to building meaningful responses to them.

If you believe in thoughtful, dignity-centered development, we invite you to build with us.

ISDE is more than an organization, it is a growing community of people who care deeply about Northern Nigeria and are willing to do the work to see it change.

Our team is made up of volunteers, professionals, and young people across different parts of the world, from healthcare practitioners and researchers to developers, students, creatives, and policy thinkers. What connects us is not just skill, but a shared belief in dignity-centered change and the understanding that real impact requires structure, collaboration, and long-term commitment.

Some members bring years of experience leading community projects and managing initiatives across Nigeria and internationally. Others are just beginning their journey, but carry a strong willingness to learn, contribute, and grow within a system that is intentional about impact. Together, this mix of experience and fresh perspective allows ISDE to think deeply, act thoughtfully, and build solutions that are both grounded and forward-looking.

We have individuals working in healthcare who emphasize confidentiality, ethics, and service. Researchers and academics who are helping shape our understanding of complex social issues. Developers and technical minds building the systems that support our work behind the scenes. Creatives and storytellers using media to shift narratives and inspire action. And young volunteers who are stepping forward, not because they have everything figured out, but because they refuse to stay passive in the face of challenges around them.

What makes this team different is how it came together. Many of our members reached out on their own, drawn by the vision, because they had been thinking about these same problems for years but did not have the structure or community to act. ISDE became that meeting point.

There is a shared understanding across the team that dignity is not optional. Whether in research, storytelling, outreach, or program design, we are intentional about respecting the people we serve, protecting their stories, and building solutions with them, not for them.

We welcome collaboration with individuals and groups who share our values🙌🏽🤍

At ISDE, our mission guides our work, our vision shapes the future we hope to see, and our values determine how we get there🤍🤗

We believe meaningful social development begins with understanding people, respecting their dignity, and working with communities to create better possibilities.

These are more than statements on paper. They are the principles that guide our decisions, our partnerships, and the work we do every day.

This is what we stand for. This is the change we are working towards. This is ISDE. 🧡💚

A little throwback to our launch event @isdealliance

From the first guests walking in to the conversations, the preparations, the little details, and everyone who showed up to be part of the moment, every scene holds a memory.

It was a day of shared vision, new connections, and the beginning of a journey we had spent so much time hoping and working towards.

Looking back, we are reminded that behind every milestone are people who give their time, energy, and support to make it happen. To everyone who was part of that day, thank you for being part of our story.🤗

This was the beginning of ISDE’s next chapter, and we are only getting started🤍

MAAKOH Cohort 01 is our first step towards creating better possibilities for Almajiri boys in Kano State.

Over the next 12 months, we hope to work closely with 10 boys, understand their individual needs, support their development, and connect them with opportunities that can help them grow.

From interactive learning sessions and mentorship to health education, practical skills, and personal development, every part of this journey is an opportunity to learn, support, and make a difference.

We are excited about the work ahead and the lessons this first cohort will bring. One step at a time, one boy at a time. 💚🧡

This is MAAKOH Cohort 01, an initiative of ISDE.

A little more from the day ISDE officially stepped into a new chapter🤍

Our September launch was more than a gathering. It was a moment to share the vision, meet people who believe in the work, build connections, and begin turning ideas into action.

Looking back at these moments reminds us of the people, conversations, and collective effort that brought us here. We are grateful to everyone who showed up, contributed, and continues to believe in what we are building.

This is only the beginning. There is work to do, stories to tell, and communities to grow alongside.

Every meaningful initiative begins with a question: what can we do differently to create better possibilities?

For us at ISDE, that question led to MAAKOH — an initiative focused on supporting Almajiri boys through mentorship, learning, health support, skills development, and access to opportunities.

MAAKOH Cohort 01 is our first step: working with 10 boys across Kano State over 12 months, understanding their individual needs, supporting their growth, and learning how to build a model that can reach more children.

This is where the work begins. One child at a time, one step at a time.

Swipe to learn more about the MAAKOH Project and what we hope to achieve through Cohort 01.

At ISDE, our ZADE Framework guides how we approach social development: from creating awareness and understanding real community needs to developing solutions and empowering people to sustain change.

Because meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes listening, learning, intentional action, and communities at the heart of every solution.

From awareness to action. From understanding to lasting change. This is the ISDE approach. 💚🧡
