A classic, reimagined. Our take on BeBe & CeCe Winans’ “Heaven” And yeah… we snuck a little Anita Baker in there too. Had to call my sister for this one @aneshaisaplus

FINE from my new album ‘92:The Live Album, go stream it! The song is basically saying if you commit to a prayer life everything will be fine. Just send a prayer to him and let him work it out.

My latest single, “I Hear the Music in the Air,” is a remake from the icon herself, @vickiewinans .

One night I went down a rabbit hole watching old YouTube clips of her performing it live. Different stages. Different crowds. Same reaction every time, people losing it. That joy. That freedom. That celebration. That’s what gospel music is supposed to feel like. I remembered I called @bbeardedunivercity @aneshaisaplus @lemajsmith and told them I had to reimagine it

A few months ago, my phone rang and it was Bill Carpenter and he said someone is on the phone for you and it was Vickie on the phone. She said, “People normally don’t remake my songs, but Negro… you can sing. Like, SING sing, the production and the vocals were incredible .” We talked for a hour and some change…

Meanwhile, I was walking through Somerset Mall like… yoooo wait. Vickie Winans is really on my phone right now? Lol

I respect my legends. I honor what they built. So seeing her again tonight, especially with this record being out in the world, meant a lot to me. 🙏🏿 #DETROIT

And shoutout to my sis @adiasings Been winning all weekend, and it’s special to watch. Excited about what’s happening for her now, but even more excited about what’s coming next.

We locked for life.

Honor the foundation. Add your color. Keep it moving forward.

Praise isn’t based on how I feel. It’s who I am. If you don’t want to praise Him with me…Watch me taken in Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre by @isemaje

Detroit, thank you.

Being home last night meant something different. The Aretha has always been one of those stages on my bucket list. a place with so much history, culture and Detroit in it. And I got to stand on that stage and share Jesus. That’s the part I’ll remember. Even with a few sound hurdles, the energy was real, the love was felt, and we had a good time. Grateful for the moment. Grateful for my city. Grateful for every person who showed love. Detroit forever.

Had to re-up on one of my favorite fragrances. Put the jorts and Vans on, kept it easy. Now I’m back in the hotel uploading this, about to change for the third time smh before heading to the Tyscot after party. Life moving in chapters today.

Got to see some of my favorite people too, Aunty Cathy, who makes sure the radio side of the music keeps moving. Bryant and his incredible wife. always grateful for the way he continues to pour into my career. Then I ran into Goo Goo and Erica Campbell. Love them.

Good fragrance. Good people. Good energy. Grateful for all of it.

Last night in the studio vibing out to the FINAL mixes of my new album “92 — Live in Detroit”

This one right here is “Fine (Live)” a song about prayer, send one up and GOD will send love down and everything will be FINE.

Don’t let nobody tell you gospel can’t MOVE. New Jack Swing meets gospel.

FUN FACT: the drums on my song “Fine” were played by Gerald Heyward, original drummer behind @michaeljackson You Rock My World.
Yeah… that energy is REAL.

Detroit legend @snoopface32 on BASS.

All the music is DONE.
We heading into mastering this week.

This album is alive.
It’s joyful.
It’s Detroit.

And it’s really something special.

S/o to my brother @bbeardedunivercity who produced this incredible album.

The song was written by @aneshaisaplus @lemajsmith and I.
