My “Atomic Series”. Marble dust and embroidery on raw linen. It was created as a site specific installation for an exhibition at the Museum of Classical Archeology at Cambridge University.
Right now exhibited by @orionsproperties in their Art Concept Space in Paroikia. On view till the end of the month. Daily 10am -6pm.

Inspired by the sacred history of Delos Island, the luminous Mediterranean light, and the quiet strength of Aegean minimalism.
I choose marble dust because it reflects light like no other material—it feels alive. Its powdery quality carries a sense of renewal, of new beginnings.
This piece was created with intention: for holistic spaces and mindful interiors—where slow-living art invites reflection and healing.

Materials | Marble

I first discovered marble dust scattered near a small workshop in Alyki, Paros — soon after my son was born. Drawn to its powdery, luminous essence, I began working with it. Unlike any other white pigment, it reflects light in a way that feels alive — a material and a memory, deeply rooted in the Cycladic landscape and part of my earth-based practice.

Learning that this marble is over 180 million years old opened me to the awe of geological deep time. It shifted my perspective — grounding me in the sacredness of time, and strengthening my commitment to a mindful, calm, and conscious interior world — rooted in slow design and the quiet presence of natural materials in art.

On Paros, marble carries the memory of centuries.
In her series The Atomic Series, artist @jborucka.art Borucka transforms marble dust, thread, and linen into works that feel both ancient and new.

Each piece is a meditation, a meeting of matter and spirit, earth and sky.
Previously shown at the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge, the works now return to the island that inspired them.

"Every cast tells two stories. One ancient. One modern." (MOCA)

While marble dust connects me to the geology of the Aegean, plaster carries a different legacy—one rooted in replication, study, and historical preservation.

This image features a plaster cast from the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge, home to one of the largest collections of classical sculpture reproductions in the world. Each cast holds dual meaning: echoing the aesthetic language of ancient sculpture while reflecting our modern desire to preserve, reinterpret, and learn from the past.

Whether powdered marble or cast plaster, these materials contribute to a natural, earth-derived visual language—one that lives at the intersection of geological deep time, cultural memory, and the creation of meaningful interiors.

🌞 Sometimes I simply feel a place before I understand it. Walking near the chapel of Agia Irini in Paros, I sensed that something new was about to unfold.

This quiet moment became the seed of a new series: pure and light, inspired by the Aegean landscape, rooted in the earth of the Cyclades, and carrying the timeless message of peace.

Like the chapel itself, this work is born of the land — handpicked materials, natural textures, and a deep dialogue with place.

🌞 As an Islander by heart and by choice, I never cease to be enchanted by the natural phenomena of the Cycladic topos.

My studio often extends outside — where I work plein air, in direct dialogue with light, shadow, and wind.

Just as I gather materials directly from the land, I allow the passage of the sun to guide the process. These fleeting sensations form a vital part of my practice: a direct connection to the spirit and soul of the Cycladic landscape.

Artist Studio | Textures

My studio is filled with textures, natural materials gathered directly from the Cycladic landscape, and ongoing experiments in form and surface.

Like in thoughtful interior design, the relationship between materials—how they interact and support each other—is central to both my process and the final work.
