💔 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DOESN’T ONLY AFFECT WOMEN. MEN CAN BE VICTIMS TOO.

Behind closed doors, some men are suffering in silence. Some are afraid to speak up because they fear being ridiculed, judged, or told to “man up.” Others remain silent because they believe nobody will take their pain seriously.

But let’s be clear: MEN HAVE FEELINGS TOO. MEN CAN BE HURT TOO. AND MEN DESERVE TO BE SAFE TOO.

Domestic violence is not always physical. It can include emotional abuse, psychological manipulation, threats, intimidation, and controlling behavior.

And let me make this absolutely clear: I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE AGAINST ANYONE, under any circumstances. No gender deserves to be abused, and no one’s pain should be dismissed because of their gender.

Speaking up is not weakness. Seeking help is not weakness. Walking away from an abusive situation is not weakness.

As a mental health advocate, I believe we must create safe spaces where ALL survivors can speak without shame, fear, or judgment.

🇯🇲 Jamaica, we need to have these conversations too.

Let’s stop telling men to suffer in silence. Let’s stop making assumptions about who can be a victim. And let’s hold everyone accountable for their actions.

REAL STRENGTH IS NOT ABOUT HIDING YOUR PAIN. IT’S ABOUT RECOGNIZING IT AND SEEKING HELP.

💚 Your mental health matters. Your safety matters. YOUR LIFE MATTERS.

🎬 PT. 3 IS READY! 👀 WHY IS STEVE HIDING???

Sometimes, the signs are there, but we don’t recognize them until something changes.

They stop talking as much.
They spend more time alone in their room.
They no longer want to go anywhere.
The things that used to make them laugh don’t seem to bring them joy anymore.
They stop calling. Stop showing up. Stop being present.

And slowly, you start asking yourself… “What happened to them?”

Sometimes, what looks like isolation, laziness, or a change in attitude may be a sign that someone is struggling with their mental health.

Depression doesn’t always look like tears. Sometimes, it looks like silence. Withdrawal. Losing interest in the things they once loved.

💚 Don’t just notice the change. Check in.

Ask them how they’re really doing. Listen without judgment. Let them know they don’t have to go through it alone.

Because sometimes, the person who’s pulling away is the person who needs connection the most.

🇯🇲 Let’s break the stigma. Let’s break the silence.

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness.

Sometimes, it looks like withdrawing from the people you love. Losing interest in personal hygiene. Neglecting your surroundings. Sitting for hours with little energy or motivation to do anything.

These can be signs that someone is struggling with depression or another mental health concern.

If you notice a change in someone you care about, don’t ignore it. Check in. Listen without judgment. Encourage them to seek professional support.

Sometimes, simply asking “Are you okay?” can be the beginning of an important conversation.

Notice the signs. Start the conversation. Get Therapy Now. by @islandstreamvod

❤️ HEALTHY ATTACHMENT: LOVE WITHOUT LOSING YOURSELF.

Yuh ever love somebody and still feel safe being yourself? 🇯🇲❤️

A healthy attachment style means you can love deeply without living in fear of being abandoned. You can communicate your feelings, set boundaries, trust your partner, and give each other space to grow.

It means understanding that love isn’t about controlling somebody, constantly seeking reassurance, or losing yourself just to keep them.

Healthy love feels safe. It allows you to be heard, respected, and understood.

Remember, nobody gets it right all the time. Healthy relationships take communication, patience, self-awareness, and effort from both people.

So ask yourself: Am I loving from a place of security, or am I loving from a place of fear?

Let’s talk about it. Let’s break the stigma around mental health, one conversation at a time.

manifesting in realtime! Prayers work! God is absolutely amazing! Wah nuh dead… nuh call it duppy! A meaningful day at Bellevue Hospital. 🇯🇲❤️

My co-founder and partner, Comala, and I had the opportunity to coordinate the official handing over of much-needed donations, generously sent by Mayor Denise D. Grant and Vice Mayor Richard Campbell of Lauderhill.

But beyond the donations, something even more meaningful happened — a connection was made.

We met with Suzette Buchanan, CEO of Bellevue Hospital, and began a conversation about what we believe can become an important collaboration toward a Jamaica where mental health is met with greater understanding and less stigma.

This is just the beginning. 🤝🏾
