Back in 2019, Michela Pace became the first-ever winner of X Factor Malta, earning the opportunity to represent Malta at the ESC. Her Eurovision entry, Chameleon, quickly became a fan favorite, with Michela finishing in 14th place in the Grand Final. Currently the song has over 16M streams on Spotify. Following Eurovision, Michela continued releasing music such as Lost in the shadows and Say it first. She also collaborated with other artists, including Ira Losco on Cannonball, The New Victorians on One More, and Matthew James on Under Pressure. With such a distinctive voice and so much potential, we'd love to see Michela return with a new musical era, perhaps even her debut album! Last week, it was confirmed that Michela is one of the finalists of Mużika Mużika 2027. This could be her comeback to the stage, and maybe more music is on the way. #michelapace #michela #esc #maltamusic #ismamusicmt #comeback Credits for picture: @rachelmuscatphotography by @ismamusic.mt
Who is listening more to Maltese artists, locals or people from other countries? We checked the top 5 cities of some Maltese artists, and sometimes, there isn't even one Maltese city or locality in the top 5. Does this mean that Maltese listeners are not listening to Maltese artists? Well, not necessarily, but it could mean that there aren't enough listeners in individual Maltese cities or localities for them to make it into the top 5. Maltese artists having international audiences is great, especially since the local music industry is very limited. However, how often do you listen to Maltese artists? As Maltese listeners, we can definitely help boost our local artists by listening to and streaming their music. We have chosen not to reveal the names of the artists shown in the screenshots, as the purpose of this post is not to compare or criticise individual artists, but rather to highlight listening habits and encourage more support for Maltese music. So let's use this as a reminder to support our local artists. It doesn't have to be on Spotify... it can be on other streaming platforms too. #maltesemusic #malteseartists #ismamusicmt #spotifymalta #malta by @ismamusic.mt
It's been a year since the release of Ira Losco's Monster After Midnight music video! This music video marked a comeback for Ira, as her previous music video was for ' Going for Gold', released four years earlier for the Special Olympics. In Monster After Midnight, we see Ira dressed as iconic characters associated with Halloween, including Michael Jackson (Thriller), Morticia Addams (from The Addams Family) and the Grady twins (from The Shining). The music video also features an adorable scene with her two children making an appearance. #monsteraftermidnight #iralosco #ismamusicmt #halloweenmusic by @ismamusic.mt

Mary Spiteri celebrated her birthday few days ago. Let's see a little bit of what she gave us during her career. A lot of people, especially from the younger generation, might know her for Little Child, but there is more than that. In 1971 she entered Malta's Eurovision selection with Min Int?, finishing third. In 1975 she represented Malta at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo with the song Go On. In 1977, she released a vinyl featuring, Live For Tomorrow / Only Time Will Tell. She also performed twice at the Sydney Opera House in Australia on 2 different occasions: on 30 September 1979 for Maltese Variety Spectacular and on the 4th of August 1984 for The Mary Spiteri Variety Special. In 1992, she managed to win Malta Song for Europe with Little Child and represented Malta in Sweden, where she managed to finish 3rd. The same year, she also headlined her own show, The Mega Concert 1992. Then in 1993, she released her album Dedication, which also featured Little Child, the Maltese version Tfajjel Ċkejken, and her version of Tema '79. In 1997, she returned with Lovers Play with Words for Malta Song for Europe, where she managed to place 3rd. Later that year, she released her album Warda Tax-Xemx, which also featured Emmint Fik and Bla Ma Tlissen Kelma Waħda. After her success on the Malta Eurovision stage in 1992, Mary Spiteri went back to try again. She had 3 more attempts, in 1995, 1997 as previously mentioned, and again in 2008. Her best result was that of 1997. In the meantime, she also released another CD called Sweet Inspiration, featuring covers of well know hits. In more recent years, Mary Spiteri performed at the Ġensna concert in 2009 with her version of Tema '79, appeared in the Maltese television series Déjà Vu in 2012 as an actress, and in 2023 celebrated over 50 years in music with Mary Spiteri: My Life, a musical biography concert at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. Finally, this year, she was listed among the performers for an Epiphany concert in Gozo and L-Aqwa 20 tal-Maltin. Her dress from the performance of Little Child is now part of Malta's National Collection. #maryspiteri #esc #malta #sydneyoperahouse #esc1992 by @ismamusic.mt
Chiara is back with brand new music! Chiara has been giving us some hints that she had something coming, and she has just confirmed that the song she spoke about in her interview with Newsbook will be released on 6th November. This song was recorded at the same time as *What If We*, and in her own words, she believes that "this track might have gotten a better result at Eurovision." #ismamusicmt #eurovision2005 #eurovision2009 #eurovision #mesc #chiaramalta Source of information: Chiara's official Instagram account. by @ismamusic.mt
5 years of Inżul u Tlajja’ by The Travellers! On 29 October 2021, Maltese band The Travellers released their album 'Inżul u Tlajja’, which celebrates its fifth anniversary today! The album includes songs such as Fejn Mar il-Kwiet? and Ħdejja, continuing the band's tradition of telling stories through Maltese-language music. Ħdejja is one of the group's most-streamed songs, and its music video is also one of their most-watched. This was the band's second album. It took four years to develop and explored personal experiences, life's ups and downs, and social issues affecting younger generations. #thetravellersmalta #maltamusic #ismamusicmt #albumanniversary by @ismamusic.mt

Back in January 2014, Corazon Mizzi released her debut album, Hawn Jien. The album included songs such as Fid-Dar tan-Nanna, Valz and Jgħidu Kien Hawn Raġel, and helped establish her distinctive style of storytelling. The album featured three songs with which she had won the contest, L-Għanja tal-Poplu... in 2007, 2009 and 2010. Through her songwriting, Corazon brought everyday Maltese stories, emotions and experiences to life, proving how powerful our language can be through music. Corazon continued releasing music, including a new song in 2025. More recently, she composed Mara, performed by Cherylis, which went on to win L-Għanja tal-Poplu in 2026. Also, Corazon has been confirmed as one of the finalists of this year's Mużika Mużika, so we're seeing a comeback after all! Could this be the start of a new era and maybe even a new album? #corazonmizzi #ismamusicmt #mużikabilmalti #comeback #maltesemusic by @ismamusic.mt

Dara was in Malta this weekend, and we also had the privilege of seeing her perform at Junior Eurovision, hosted in Malta. In a short interview, Dara confirmed that she loved Malta and that she has a new song, Bad Ideas, coming out at the end of the month. Dara also removed all the posts from her Instagram page, which usually means a new era is coming. Let's see what bangarangas next... #dara #junioreurovision #esc #newmusicalert #ismamusicmt Credits for interview: TVM. Credits for photo: PhotoNews by @ismamusic.mt
