Dearest Actors, 💙
We’re signing off. What an incredible journey it has been—over a decade together. Wow. ✨
I remember our very first group of actors, sitting in a circle with notebooks on Jen’s patio, sipping tea, and coaching them. Oof. It feels a little like closing night—the mix of gratitude, excitement for the next adventure, and wistfulness all at once. 🌟
Speak L.A. has given me so much: Jen, community, new friendships, amazing guest experts, and a lifelong fascination with the actor’s journey—their stories, their unique paths in L.A. and beyond. 💕
At the heart of everything we created was our desire to empower you with the knowledge that what you bring to the world is incredibly special and unique. Booking a job is the bonus—the real adventure is living your life fully.
Who would have thought we’d create 121 podcast episodes, live shows, events, a thriving community, a membership, coaching programs, travel to NY & the UK, and teach at multiple universities? But the best part: guiding thousands of actors, cheering them along their journeys. 🎭
So, what’s next? Jen is focusing on her book and being a mama to kids starting college. I’ve evolved Speak L.A. into The Actor’s Path, coaching a small group of actors and working with parents of young actors—aligned with my own mamahood adventure. 👩‍👧

Dearest Actor, 💙

As we sign off, opening our lives to new directions and adventures… something I’ve been asking myself a lot lately is: How do you define a creative life? 🎨✨

And the answer? Well, it can only be found within you.
You define a creative life—and that’s what I find so exciting. Your actor’s path is completely unique to you. 🌟

In an effort to bridge the gap between the start of an acting career and a thriving, sustainable acting career, Jen and I (your podcast hosts) started this podcast.

🎙 Speak L.A. The Podcast brings you the personal stories of industry professionals and how they got their start in this elusive, kooky, maddening, and completely magical industry. ✨

As many of you know, I have two big loves in my life: 🎭 acting and 💕 being a mama.
Both light me up in different ways, and both guide the work I do now.

That’s why I coach two special groups:

How do you forge a conversation in an audition?🤔
You get really good at listening...

You LISTEN intently to person you're partnering your scene with.
When you really listen,
You make the other person/character more important and what ends up happening is you get into what I call, the ZONE of INTUITIVE response.
In other words you begin to live the role instead of acting the role.🥰
Same thing with the director.
Listen to their notes, where your character fits into the whole, it's two creative minds coming together bringing together their expertise.
The best part of listening is that it takes the focus off of you and those pesky nerves.
Honor who you're working with and your conversation will dig into the creative process.
Which is... the JOY of being an actor. ❤️🤗🦋

Clarity comes from trusting your inner knowing.🦋

They suddenly become more powerful than the direct, joyful abundance of creation that exists within YOU.

Kim is one of my most favorite people...😍
I remember when I met her.
My first year in L.A.
Her soul is so ridiculously stunning, you look at her and you have to catch your breath.🥰
And, what is so amazing about Kim isn't just her incredible success as an actor, but her success as a human.
She is humble, wickedly funny and kind.🤗
I am forever grateful that she saw me,
loved me and mentored me in the most important of life lessons - the humility of being human.
Why am I telling you this?
Because the best way to build relationships in this Industry... is to be the imperfect human you are, to see and honor others and, most importantly be kind.💜

Creativity really does lie in the realm of magic.🦋
It lies within the intangible, ethereal quality of life.❤️
It makes sense that fear comes up when you’re trusting in a free flowing and creative process.
How to address the fear of creating?
✨Breathe in and out, acknowledge that it’s there.
✨Remember that a feeling has a beginning, middle and an end.
✨Lean in and get to work.
Let fear be an indicator that creativity is brewing inside and you’re about to step forward and breathe it to life.
It is a brave act you’re doing and the world thanks you for it.❤️
