🇵🇹Já depois de pronto, revelo alguns pormenores, como o interior da mala repintado, frisos exteriores pintados, a furação na tampa da mala para aparafusar o spoiler, o defletor de vento do teto de abrir e com os painéis devidamente alinhados. Fica também uma foto do geral do carro e praticamente como se encontra neste momento. A rever num futuro próximo, as jantes que já merecem alguma atenção e devolver-lhes a tonalidade característica de cinza claro.

🇬🇧After the painting process, here are some details, the trunk interior repainted, door mouldings done, holes made to screw the spoiler, the sliding roof’s wind defletor and the panel gaps sorted. A picture of the car and how it sits currently. In the near future, the wheels will be refurbished to the classic silver look.

🇵🇹A nível de chapa, foram trocados os 2 guarda lamas frontais, a porta do condutor, refeito o guarda lamas traseiro e ambos os pára choques reparados. Procedeu-se depois à desmontagem da mala, tampa da mala, portas e vidros para ser repintado na parte interior dos painéis. Foi também aplicado o spoiler réplica LTW sem espaçadores, por preferência.

🇬🇧Bodywork wise, the 2 wings were replaced, the driver’s door, the rear quarter panel was rebuilt and both bumpers repaired. After that, the inner door panels, windows and boot were disambled to be repainted on the inner side and door jams. An LTW replica spoiler without the risers made its way to the trunk lid.

🇵🇹Em 2020, começou o processo de restaurar o carro todo, a nível de chapa e pintura. Depois da mecânica pronta, era o ponto que faltava. Como este foi um processo moroso, irá ser dividido em várias publicações. Numa primeira fase, adquiri tudo o que era borracha e plástico que estava degradado ou partido, e que não faria sentido usar com o carro repintado. Foram então compradas as cavas das rodas, guias dos pára choques, proteções inferiores do pára choques, grelhas, rins, símbolos, chapas de matrículas, plásticos e borrachas dos puxadores das portas, borrachas dos vidros da frente e trás, borrachas da mala, borracha do teto de abrir, tampas para os faróis de nevoeiro, o torpedo das escovas e condutas de ar para os travões. A taxa BMW fez-se sentir, mas são os pequenos detalhes que elevam um bom restauro.

🇬🇧In 2020, the process of restoring the paint and body of the car started. After the mechanical upgrades were sorted, it was lacking a better paintjob. This took a while, so I’ll just divide it in a couple of posts. First, I’ve bought everything that was plastic and rubber that was broken or not very nice, it wouldn’t make sense to use it with a fresh paintjob. So, I purchased the wheel wells, lower protections, bumper guides, grilles, kidneys, logos, license plates, plastic and rubber surround of the door handles, rubber trim for windshield, rubber trim for the rear screen, trunk rubber, sliding roof seal, fog light covers, front cowl and brake air intakes. BMW tax was applied, but a nice restore is also in the details.

🇵🇹O selector de velocidades foi uma das modificações com melhor rácio preço/diversão, feitas neste carro. Após algumas recomendações e testes noutros carros, e de ter gostado bastante do feeling, comprei um short shifter da PMC Motorsport. Este selector aparafusa no tunel da caixa de velocidades, pelo que o recomendado é usar apoios de motor e caixa mais rígidos que os originais, para limitar o movimento de ambos. Os apoios de motor e caixa são em alumínio com uma camada de poliuretano da GoSidewayz. As duas modificações em conjunto estiveram em segundo plano durante algum tempo, pois havia o receio de ficar com o carro desconfortável em estrada, principalmente pisos mais degradados. Depois de estar tudo no sítio, é praticamente imperceptível que o carro tem apoios rígidos, ficando o shifter com um feeling espetacular e a condução mais entusiasmante, em parte, por estar mais perto do volante.

🇬🇧The shifter was one of the best ratio price/engagement mods, done in this car. After a few recommendations and tests in other cars, and enjoying the feeling, I’ve bought a PMC Motorsport short shifter. This one bolts to gearbox tunnel, for what is recommended using engine and gearbox mounts stronger than OEM to limit the movement of both. The mounts are solid aluminium with polyurethane from GoSidewayz. Both mods were on hold for a bit, because I didn’t want to compromise the ride, especially in bad tarmac. After everything was done, surprisingly the car rides quite good and the shifter has an amazing feel, and the driving pleasure was improved, being closer to the steering wheel.

🇵🇹Foram colocadas barras de anti aproximação para melhorar o comportamento do carro em curva e reduzir o adornar da carroçaria. Servem também, como prevenção para as torres frontais não cederem e as traseiras não partirem, males crónicos nesta plataforma. Diretamente da Letónia, vieram 2 barras da 933 Motorsport com um excelente acabamento e pintadas na cor do carro.

🇬🇧Strut bars were fitted to the E36 to improve handling and reduce body roll. Also prevents the front towers to pivot inwards and the rears to break, both chronic failures in this platform. Directly from Latvia, came 2 strut bars from 933 Motorsport with a nice finishing and painted white.
