The Greenlee Advisory Council met a few weeks ago in Hamilton Hall where faculty and students showcased their research and work, and members were able to tour the new environmental branding throughout the building as well as the new studio renovations in the basement.

The Advisory Council was created to support the school, director, faculty, staff and students in a collaborative partnership to make the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication the premier institution for educational, professional and scholarly contributions to communication and society.

"MOMdeszoon" received an award for the Best Historical Family Documentary at the Star City Film & Theater Festival held last month in Waukon, Iowa. The documentary was directed by Greenlee Assistant Teaching Professor Tony Moton with a crew of nine students. The film features former Cyclones football defensive lineman Myles Mendeszoon, his twin sister Marijke, a Greenlee journalism major specializing in sports media, and their parents.

"As festival founder in my 10th season of this festival, I can say the documentary was outstanding as a short film and a deeply touching story," said Katie O'Regan, festival director. "Well done."

Summer internship: Social media and marketing intern by Delaney Fitzgibbon, senior in public relations 🤩

This summer, I had the opportunity to serve as the social media and marketing intern for Cornerstone Church in the Quad Cities Metro.

My internship at Cornerstone Church was an incredibly valuable experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. I strengthened my skills in social media, marketing, branding, communication, creativity, leadership and adaptability. More importantly, I learned how communication can be used to build relationships, strengthen communities and inspire people to take action. My experience at Cornerstone gave me the opportunity to apply what I have learned as a public relations and communication studies student at Iowa State University to real-world situations. This internship helped confirm my interest in pursuing a career involving marketing, branding, and social media, while also giving me the confidence and experience to continue growing as a communications professional.

Earlier this month, students in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication took part in Adobe Day at Hamilton Hall! 💻

The event gave students the opportunity to receive portfolio reviews, explore Adobe’s latest tools and resources, connect with Adobe representatives and Greenlee faculty, and showcase their creativity in a competition with prizes awarded to top entries.
