Happy 10th Birthday to Fix It Friday! ✂️❤️

What started as a simple idea to put a couple sewing machines out on the Quad in September 2016 has grown into an established and much-loved program here at ISU. Over the past decade, we’ve taken Fix It Friday all over Bloomington-Normal, made a few trips to Chicago, and, in 2022, opened our own Repair Shop inside the Office of Sustainability.

And as of today, we’ve repaired approximately **3,276 items!** From shirts, pants, skirts and jackets to teddy bears, blankets, backpacks and just about everything in between.

That’s a lot of repairs, a lot of sewing, and a lot of memories over the past 10 years. We pulled together some favorite photos from the last decade to celebrate how far Fix It Friday has come. If you’ve volunteered with Fix It Friday or brought us something to repair, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.

Even thought we are celebrating, we’re also open for FREE repairs today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. And since it’s our birthday, there will be cake, too! 🎂 taken in Illinois State University Office of Sustainability by @isufixitfriday

This is the start of a series we’ll be sharing every Friday this semester highlighting the different sustainability resources available across campus! 🌎

Fix It Friday is ISU’s FREE, student-run clothing repair program, offering quick fixes to help keep your favorite clothes IN your closet and OUT of the landfill.

Bring us your small clothing repairs, from holes and loose buttons to other simple fixes. Open to ISU and our community!

🪡The Fix It Friday Repair Shop is located inside the Office of Sustainability at 305 N. School St.
