This is where I work.

Also where I live, read, think, and occasionally stare out the window long enough to call it research.

The books on the shelf are the same ones I take into sessions. The table where I have breakfast is the table where I take calls. There's no real separation and I stopped pretending there should be.

I work with creative professionals who are figuring out how to build a practice that actually fits their life. This space is part of that.

When redecorating my apartment, it was important to me that this space reflects my energy and what I want to bring to the people I work with. After a session, we both leave feeling inspired by what was said and by the room itself.

That mission is rooted in my core values:

For a long time, about a year, I tried to make more reels, together with an editor, simply because reels score better. But after a while, it didn't sit right anymore. It started to feel more and more like a performance, as if I had to prove myself. But to whom, or to what? To an algorithm?

It's a contradiction. Do you go with the trends and follow the stream to get more views, or do you choose not to?

The holiday and a digital break did me good. I ended the collaboration, and I'm rediscovering what it means to communicate in a way that feels like me. Sometimes you need to try something for a longer time to know if it's really for you.

In that search, I'm looking at what gives me joy and where I feel resistance. I don't mind filming myself, for example in the hallway when I'm leaving home. But filming many different clips for one reel, coming up with a good script and voice over 😬, that's where I felt it.

What gives me joy is inspiring you and sharing insights from my practice. Things I'd love you to know about growing your own artistic career.

It was my 4th time in Berlin. First as a student, then twice for business in 2019 and 2020, and this time a holiday with my boyfriend. Berlin has so many different sides. I love the energy, the people, the (street) art, the food.

Discovering @wolfgang_tillmans work at the @neuenationalgalerie. His photo “The Cock (kiss)” moved me more than I expected.

@darkmatterberlin by @christopherbauder. Standing in front of it, I saw possibilities. Some of my clients could do something similar on their own. And I saw how I could bring a few of them together.

Caught up with Katia, @uncertain.regard was so much fun. We met on a business trip 6 years ago. So good to see her (and her dog) again.

A 30 minute drive to the nature around Müggelsee. 🌳🌳🌳

Trying different cuisines, Georgian for the first time.

3 weeks completely offline did me so much good. It felt strange at times. I sometimes had the urge to check my mail or social media more than once. I’m glad I didn’t. It gave me a clear head. Ready to bring that back into the business, and to you. 😊 taken in Berlin by @isupportcreatives

Every year I give away a coaching journey. Not as a marketing move. As a celebration.

3 editions in. 3 creatives.

Each time, I chose someone whose talent I could see but whose outcome wasn't there yet.

@shitika_studios makes sculptural jewellery in Oslo, where handcraft meets 3D technology. @rrrobin_deceuninck is an accessory designer. @jessica.marcy, whose coaching journey ended last week, is an American filmmaker working between the US and Europe.

Shitika: "She really listened and put together structured ways of tackling things. Great questions that made me think in different and exciting ways."

Robin: "One of the most valuable journeys in my creative career. She helps you focus without losing yourself."

Jessica: "She has an incredible ability to break down lofty goals into manageable steps. Her approach is very tailored to the person. She asks deeper questions to really understand what approach will work best for the individual."

3 different worlds. With so much potential.

You probably have a client you'd clone if you could. 🥰

This model I discovered in the book ‘De Vrouw van 1 Miljoen’ by @veroniquebockstal shows you how to find more of them.

You sort your current clients by revenue. Then you score them on 4 criteria: the margin you make, how fast they decide and pay, whether they're open to new ideas, and the quality of their network.

A clients meet your revenue conditions and score on 3 or all 4 criteria. B clients are close. C clients take the most energy and give the least back.

The exercise does 2 things. It shows you who to find more of. And it shows you who to quietly phase out.

Your A client has a twin. That's who you're looking for. 👯‍♀️

I try to spend a lot of time outside the coaching bubble. In stores, galleries, museums, fairs, studios. Having conversations. Asking questions. Not as a consumer, but as an observer. As someone trying to understand the world my coachees work in.

Sometimes supporting a creative means sharing their work. Sometimes it means showing up at their vernissage. Sometimes it means tips in a newsletter, post or a free toolkit. And sometimes it means buying the work.

Some brains are not built for the 9 to 5. Not for open offices, back to back meetings, or the pressure to always be on.

And yet the world is largely built for that norm. For people who can focus on demand, switch off at 6, and show up the same way every single day.

If your brain works differently, you know what I mean. The days where simple tasks feel impossible. Where you’ve been in research mode for weeks but nothing gets made. Where you watch others move forward and wonder what’s wrong with you.

Nothing is wrong with you. The system just wasn’t built with you in mind.

I know what it means to live outside the norm. I live at half time. Half a day. Part-time. My brain has its own rules too. (link in bio if you want to read the full story)

That’s one of the many reasons of why I do this work. To help people build their business with their own system. 🛠️

Since I read this, I've applied these insights twice already. One coachee was navigating a collaboration with a gallery. The other needed to communicate her needs for a long-term collaboration. Different situations. Same principles.

I was never the one who stood out.

B-attest in my third year of secondary school. 9 failed exams I had to redo in my first year of college. I studied hard for mediocre results.

In my first years as an employee, it wasn't much different. I worked harder than most of my colleagues to prove myself. Didn't always get the recognition for it. Got fired twice.

It took a while before I understood why. I wasn't in the wrong field. I was in the wrong context. The moment I matched my real skills with the right audience, everything shifted.

Some people bloom early. Others need the right soil first.

Maybe you recognize this? I can reassure you: you’re not falling behind. You just haven’t found your context yet.
