Throwback to Oct 2019 ✨✨✨ A beautiful day with autumn’s gentle sunshine & pure & fresh air. PIC 1-3 I love the creek, the veggie fields 🥬, the golden rice paddy 🌾 & fruit trees 🍊. 😍 These are the surroundings of the Ancestral Home of mommy’s great grandfather. He lived in this rural village (which was poor & remote) of Qingpu until age 10 (1871-1881) PIC 4-6 In recognition of his founding the first modern publishing organization in China - The Commercial Press 商務印書館 📚, the ‘Home’ is now a protected cultural heritage site of Qingpu. 🏠 PIC 7-8 Look at the very simple living conditions. ⁣ ⁣ Happy Wednesday, dear friends 🤗⁣ ⁣ Here’s Part 2 of my photos from The Henderson 📸⁣ ⁣ The Art Garden 🪴 next to The Henderson features another stunning collection of artworks.⁣ ⁣ PIC 1-9⁣ “Breathing Tree” — a 7m-tall, carbon-neutral, kinetic art installation by US artist Ned Kahn 🌴✨⁣ In a rhythmic sequence, the ‘Tree’ integrates wind, water & mist to create cloud vortex (mist), water vortex (a dynamic whirlpool at the base) & rain veil (a localized water curtain) 💨💧🌫️⁣ We did get a little wet before we got the hang of the rhythm 🤭💦⁣ ⁣ PIC 10-11⁣ “Allium” — a 3.5m-tall, large-scale, ball-shaped flower sculpture by British artist Jenny Pickford 🌼 ⁣ The sculpture has been installed to commemorate the founder of Henderson Land, Dr Lee Shau Kee, honoring his enduring spirit & unwavering strength ✨⁣ ⁣ PIC 12⁣ Hypnotic Dream” by German digital artist Philipp Frank 💫⁣ Every evening,abstract light projections & immersive soundscapes come together, casting an elegant glow over the 200-year-old Chorisia tree 🌳 ✨⁣ ⁣ PIC 13-15⁣ Back at the “Breathing Tree” 🌴 ⁣ Look — 2 birdie visitors! 😍 We learned from the security guards that they show up everyday at the same time for a bath 🐦🛁😄⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Thank you for following my little afternoon escape to this futuristic art-and-architecture oasis ☀️🌿 The aesthetics were such a treat for the eyes. ⁣ ⁣ Happy Sunday, dear friends! 🤗⁣ ⁣ We enjoyed some enchanting public art at The Henderson yesterday 🗿🪩⁣ ⁣ Here are some photos from our visit 📸⁣ ⁣ PIC 1-2 ⁣ “Balloon Swan”— a 3.5m-tall stainless-steel sculpture by American artist Jeff Koons 🦢🎈⁣ ⁣ PIC 3-8⁣ Now lets take a look at The Henderson itself 🏙️ ⁣ The 36-story, 190m-tall super grade-A commercial skyscraper was designed by the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects. Its design was inspired by the bud of a Bauhinia, HK’s floral emblem 🇭🇰.⁣ The architecture — the building, staircase & even the skywalks — look so avant-garde ✨⁣ ⁣ PIC 9-12⁣ “Anatomy of Time” by British artist Petroc Sesti. It’s a translucent, 3m-tall kinetic optical sculpture inspired by cosmology & the spiral geometry of galaxies. I loved the immersive experience 🌀✨👀⁣ ⁣ PIC 13-14⁣ “In Bloom” by Michaela Mertlova from the Lasvit Design Team. The chandelier echoes the building’s Bauhinia-inspired design by interpreting the flower in full bloom 🌼💎⁣ ⁣ One more post from this visit — coming soon!
