“When We Put The Fire Out” by @italysblur

“I watched grief point fingers.”

In this POWERFUL and stunning performance Italy becomes the ruler of her bloodline. She steps into the woman who will break the curse and you can tell from the writing that her ancestors were in the room handing her a crown as she wrote this.

“Our living-rooms became fertile ground for dying.”

This line is as beautiful as it is bloody. The imagery is clear and you can’t help but know the feeling in weird and eerie way. I can’t get the image out of my head. Beautiful writing.

“I will push for this plot even if it takes years to twist.”

WOW and YES and everything in between. I’m sitting here in awe of this entire poem. Half of it has left me speechless and the other half I’m audibly loud trying to write this in a cafe. Italy I will be calling you about this poem.

this past Sunday I was showered with love from all corners of my life— poetry family, childhood friends, family that has known me since diaper days and WHEW gratitude isn’t even the word.

I’ve been high off love since and couldn’t thank all those who came to the Dreamers Fundraiser enough 🫂♥️

We laughed, prayed, fundraised and ate my favorite home cooked meal. It was a one of a kind to say the least. Nothing short of beautiful. There was truly magic in the room and that’s special thanks to @keynote__ @call.me.ugba @risefelicia @laneytheepoet @cryoutcave ✨

This will not be the last Dreamers Fundraiser and I’m looking to transcend this event into a series where we fundraise for our fellow artists’ projects in real time so stay tuned!🙂‍↕️♥️ taken in Cryout Cave: Poetry.Art.Music by @italysblur
