Den Auftakt bildet die Uraufführung von „C wie …“ der deutsch-iranischen Komponistin @sarvenaz.safari_composer. Werke von Bach, Ligeti, Brahms und Prokofjew eröffnen anschließend ein Panorama der Celloliteratur zwischen Barock und Moderne. Das Konzert ist Emanuel Feuermann, Jacqueline du Pré und Mstislav Rostropovich gewidmet.

Lessons with pianist and harpsichordist Andreas Staier

Pianist Andreas Staier first became world‑renowned as a harpsichordist. After studies with Lajos Rovatkay and Ton Koopman, he spent several years in the 1980s as harpsichordist of Musica Antiqua Köln. Staier is far more than a virtuosic exponent of historical performance practice; he is best described as a passionate seeker of sound. Every work he approaches is examined in depth, structurally and in its historical context, opening up new interpretative perspectives and surprising listening experiences.

His expertise is documented on numerous, highly acclaimed recordings. For his work he has received major distinctions, including the Bach Medal of the City of Leipzig (2024) and Artist‑in‑Residence positions at AMUZ in Antwerp (2012–2016) and the Opéra de Dijon (2011–2021). As both harpsichordist and fortepianist he has appeared worldwide at leading festivals and concert halls with ensembles such as Freiburger Barockorchester, Concerto Köln and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Long‑standing chamber music partners include Alexander Melnikov, Isabelle Faust and Christoph Prégardien. From 1987 onwards Staier taught for many years as professor of harpsichord and fortepiano at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis; in recent years he has also been active as a conductor and orchestral director.

He just performed with violinist and Kronberg Academy alumnus Seiji Okamoto (@seiji_vn) in April at the concert “Bach & Cembalo” (@frankfurter_bachkonzerte) in the Casals Forum; in June Staier returned to Kronberg Academy to give lessons.
