Ricky Wassenaar, who is already serving 16 life sentences for commandeering a prison watchtower and taking guards hostage for 15 days in 2004, pleaded not guilty in December to three murder charges — even though he had already bragged to the Mirror and other media outlets that he had killed four men in a sex-offender unit at a state prison in Tucson to help rid the world of child molesters.

Wassenaar told the Mirror that, on April 4, 2025, he suffocated and strangled his cellmate, Saul Alvarez, because he didn’t want to have to share a cell with him. Then he placed a rock in his fishnet laundry bag, took it to a fenced-in area where other prisoners waited to be let into a mess hall, and started swinging, killing prisoners Thorne Harnage and Donald Lashley, and injuring another prisoner.

His only regret was that there were not more people in line.

“If I had waited until they were all locked in that cage, I would have killed ten or 12,” he told the Arizona Mirror in an April 2025 interview. “I wanted to kill them all
Wassenaar also claimed to have killed another cell mate, Joseph Desisto, in November 2024, also because he did not want to share a cell. He was not charged in that death because an autopsy ruled that Desisto had likely died of natural causes.

“I choked him with an arm bar and then with my hands,” Wassenaar said last year, adding that he was sweating from the exertion and his DNA should have been all over Desisto.

Despite the confessions, the case seemed to fall into a time warp.

Though the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry pronounced Wassenaar guilty of three murders on his disciplinary record, it did not refer the case to the Pima County Attorney’s Office until late June. Pima County declared a conflict of interest and passed the case to Pinal County.

“My prosecutors had placed at least two of those people in prison,” Pima County Attorney Laura Conover told the Mirror, the first time her office had explained its conflict.

In child sexual assault cases, the victims and offenders are often family members.

“Some of the loved ones…” Conover stopped herself. “Some of the next of kin did no by @itisfinished__

Get into this guys-- Rebecca Jane Mryglod, 38, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree domestic battery for shooting her ex-boyfriend more than 17 times in Arkansas.

The shooting occurred on Nov. 8, 2024, at the Drasco home where Mryglod and the victim were living. According to court records and a Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office report, Mryglod called 911 and told dispatchers she had shot someone. Deputies found the 43-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the home. Mryglod was outside crying, with blood on her hands, and identified him as her boyfriend.

The victim survived but required extensive medical treatment. One bullet struck his colon, causing an infection that required another operation.

During an interview with investigators, Mryglod said she and the victim had broken up but that she had moved back in to help him “battle his spiritual demons.” She said she had purchased a .22-caliber handgun three days before the shooting and had practiced with it.

According to the affidavit, Mryglod woke early on the morning of the shooting, retrieved the gun and ammunition from her vehicle, and continued her usual routine, including helping her daughter board the school bus. After returning home, she found the victim sitting on the couch. She asked if he planned to go to work. When he stood up, she pointed the gun at him and began firing.

Mryglod later told investigators she would rather the victim be dead and herself in prison than continue helping him with his spiritual struggles.

The victim told investigators that Mryglod fired as he stood from the couch and later approached him before firing again at close range.

Prosecutors initially charged Mryglod with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree domestic battery, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. She ultimately pleaded guilty to the domestic-battery charge and received a 240-month state prison sentence. by @itisfinished__

*United Airlines Flight Diverted After Passenger Repeatedly Attempts to Reach Cockpit*

A United Airlines flight traveling from Chicago to Minneapolis was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Wisconsin after a passenger reportedly caused a disturbance and repeatedly attempted to gain access to the aircraft's cockpit.

The incident occurred aboard a flight carrying 147 passengers and six crew members. According to airline officials, the situation escalated while the aircraft was en route to Minneapolis, prompting the flight crew to declare a security concern and divert the plane to Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin.

Crew members reportedly struggled to contain the 75-year-old passenger, who made multiple attempts to breach the cockpit area during the flight. Air traffic control recordings captured a crew member describing the tense situation, stating that several efforts were required to regain control of the individual. Although the passenger was never placed in handcuffs, crew members eventually managed to restrain the situation until the aircraft could safely land.

Upon arrival in Madison, local law enforcement officers and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation boarded the plane and detained the passenger without further incident. Authorities quickly secured the aircraft and ensured the safety of everyone on board before allowing passengers to continue their travel plans.

Investigators later determined that the man appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis at the time of the incident. Officials from the Dane County Sheriff's Office said the passenger seemed confused and disoriented, leading authorities to believe his actions were not motivated by criminal intent. As a result, no criminal charges are expected to be filed.

Despite the alarming nature of the event, no injuries were reported among passengers or crew members. Airline representatives praised the flight crew for following established safety procedures and handling the situation professionally under difficult circumstances.

Authorities also confirmed that members of the passenger's family were traveling from Minneapolis to Madison to meet him following the by @itisfinished__

Two utility workers were allegedly held hostage inside a trailer in a remote area of Northern California on Thursday, triggering a major law enforcement response involving SWAT officers, hostage negotiators, snipers, and bomb specialists. Authorities said the workers were conducting fieldwork in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest when they were ambushed, restrained with zip ties, and taken to a trailer near Gumboot Lake. Their identities have not been publicly released.

Joseph Henrichsen, 49, and his 23-year-old son, Phoenix Henrichsen, have been arrested and charged federally with kidnapping. Prosecutors allege Joseph Henrichsen called police around 11 a.m. while holding the workers captive, claiming he had kidnapped them and threatening violence against anyone attempting to intervene. Court documents state he said he had “live rounds ready” for anyone who interfered.

Authorities launched a large tactical operation to safely resolve the situation. Investigators said Henrichsen also demanded to speak with the FBI during the standoff. The two workers were eventually rescued, and both suspects were taken into custody. Officials have not announced a motive for the alleged kidnapping, and the investigation remains ongoing as federal authorities continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. by @itisfinished__

Los Angeles prosecutors are investigating sexual assault allegations made against disgraced artist and music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs, an official said Tuesday. When asked if Combs was the target of a probe concerning alleged attacks against a male victim in 2020 and 2021, a spokesperson for L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed the investigation.

“In the fall of 2025, LAPD and LASD each presented a separate sexual assault investigation for one victim to the LA County District Attorney’s Office,” the DA’s rep said in a statement. “We are reviewing the case.”

The allegations were made by publicist and record producer Jonathan Hay.

Hay gave NBC News permission to identify him by name.

“Standing as a survivor of the actions involving Sean Diddy Combs and Christopher CJ Wallace, I view the validation of my accounts by the LAPD and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office as a critical juncture,” Hay said in a statement to NBC News.

“This development represents a substantial advancement in my pursuit of complete accountability. Justice is prevailing.”

Combs was convicted last year on federal charges that he transported a girlfriend and another woman across state lines for prostitution. by @itisfinished__

Pedro Mercado, a 54-year-old Bronx man, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing Joshua Antonetti after Antonetti’s wife ended her affair with Mercado.

According to court documents, the shooting happened on September 4, 2023. Mercado had been involved in a romantic relationship with Antonetti’s wife. About an hour before the shooting, she told Mercado that she was ending their relationship.

Shortly afterward, Mercado confronted Antonetti in the parking lot of an apartment building. Prosecutors said Mercado beat Antonetti, struck him with a pistol, and then shot him in the head. Antonetti was taken to a hospital for treatment but died the following day from his injuries.

Prosecutors said Mercado was unable to accept that the affair had ended and reacted with uncontrolled anger. District Attorney Clark described the killing as a tragic act that took the life of a man who was loved by his family.

The court sentenced Mercado to 20 years in prison for the killing. After completing his prison sentence, he will also be required to serve five years of post-release supervision.

The case highlights how a violent reaction to the end of a relationship can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their loved ones, but also for the person who commits the crime. by @itisfinished__

A former Mississippi educator who previously received a Teacher of the Year award has been arrested after authorities accused her of engaging in sexual conduct with a student while employed at Ocean Springs Middle School. Olivia Marie Smith was taken into custody following a tip received by investigators alleging inappropriate behavior involving a student. Smith earned the school’s Teacher of the Year recognition in 2022 and was later promoted to assistant principal at nearby Oak Park Elementary School.

According to reports, Smith appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court on Thursday, where she was charged with sexual battery. Prosecutors say the charge carries a potential prison sentence of up to 30 years under Mississippi law because of her position of authority over the alleged victim.

Authorities also charged Smith with enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes. Investigators with the Ocean Springs Police Department said they were first notified of the allegations by officials from the Ocean Springs School District on June 20, prompting an immediate investigation.

In a public statement, the school district said it was deeply saddened by the allegations involving one of its former employees. District officials stated that after receiving information suggesting possible inappropriate conduct, they immediately contacted the Ocean Springs Police Department and Mississippi Child Protective Services to ensure the matter was investigated without delay.

The case remains under investigation, and Smith has been formally charged but has not been convicted. As with all criminal cases, the allegations will be evaluated through the legal process before any determination of guilt or innocence is made. by @itisfinished__

A mother was left with her eye sewn shut and forced to give up her job after parasites damaged her cornea, all because she washed her face while wearing contact lenses.

Emma Marsden, 47, had been cleaning out horse stables when she fell headfirst into a wheelbarrow filled with dirt and water on February 28, leaving her covered in mud. She washed her face and hands but did not remove her contact lenses until later that evening.

Four days later, Emma developed severe pain in her right eye. After visiting her GP, she was referred to hospital. Initial tests suggested she had a corneal ulcer, and she was discharged with eye drops.

However, the pain rapidly worsened, and she lost all vision in her right eye. At a follow-up appointment on March 7, specialists diagnosed her with acanthamoeba keratitis, a rare infection caused by a microscopic parasite commonly found in tap water. She was also diagnosed with fusarium keratitis, a severe fungal infection, along with multiple corneal ulcers.

Doctors believe the infection developed after contaminated water became trapped behind her contact lens while she washed her face.

The parasite severely damaged her cornea, causing it to perforate. Surgeons stitched her eyelids shut to protect the eye while it heals, and she was prescribed intensive treatment, including eye drops every hour.

"My eye was excruciatingly painful and red," Emma said. "When I woke up the next morning, any time light hit my eye the pain was so severe I couldn't open my eyes."

Photos show her normally blue-green eye has turned a cloudy grey because of the infection. Emma, from Lancashire, said doctors warned she could permanently lose sight in her right eye.

"It's pretty heartbreaking to think I might never see out of that eye again, she said.

She will eventually require a cornea transplant because of the extensive damage. Emma described the pain as worse than childbirth, saying the parasite rapidly destroyed her cornea and surrounding nerves.

It's excruciatingly painful and everything just stops. Your life stops, she said. "The speed it ate through my eye shocked the doctors."

The infection left her unable to tolerate light, forcing her to remai by @itisfinished__
