This first photo was taken the day I met @chadcopelin.I was connected to Chad while visiting family in LA. On my last night there, I met a new producer friend, @straw.hat.cody , at a show and told him I was working on a record. He recommended @chadcopelin with the connection that we were both in Oklahoma. After corresponding a bit, we met in November of 2024. I brought a voice memo of a new song I had just finished writing, and we started a demo. Chad completely brought it to life and made it feel real.I’m so so filled with gratitude — not only for the craft and time Chad has invested in this record, but also for the incredibly talented artists he’s connected me with along the way. Costa Upson being one of them—someone who has poured so much passion into this record and has become the best mentor and friend I could possibly dream of.@yupsonger and @chadcopelin then brought in amazing artists @nathanpriceart , @jakeyjakeybigmistakeyy , @hogsjowls , @abairabair , and @atbeezy . We brought it back to Blackwatch, where Chad added ethereal instrumentation and mixed “Her.” We then sent it to be mastered by Cody Doss—the same friend who connected me to Chad in the beginning.It’s a full-circle moment, and words can’t really express how much joy I feel getting the opportunity to create with such talented people and pursue my passion. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for supporting this release🤍I’m so excited to share “Her” with you today AND more of what we’ve been working on in the near future :) by @itismarin

I wanted to share a little about the cover art for my single Her, out tomorrow!This beautiful art was created by the incredibly talented @thereisnothere using alternative film processes. The first slide is a cyanotype, and the second is a lumen print made on expired black-and-white darkroom paper from the 70s. The 3rd slide is the original film image. The flowers used are reminiscent of Queen Anne’s lace, which often symbolizes sanctuary, safety, femininity, and refuge. That felt really aligned with Her and the feelings I hope it evokes. Collaborating and envisioning this shoot with Rachel was effortless and serendipitous. I remember walking up to the door, hearing wind chimes, and being welcomed to hot tea, the smell of incense, and her two kitties sunbathing as I stepped inside. This instantly was such a comfort & I knew we were gonna be a great fit :) She truly invested so much intention & nurture into this project and I couldn’t be more grateful for her patience and artistry! by @itismarin
