Fall planning is already happening… even if you want to hold on to summer. And who doesn’t?! I’m cramming in as many beach hangs and mountain hikes as I can!

September kicks off product launches, B2B contract cycles, and seasonal holiday planning. If your cannabis company isn’t locked in on what matters most, fall will run you instead of the other way around.

Before Q4 ramps up, get clear on these 3 things:

1. Your primary revenue priority
2. Your team’s role clarity + vision alignment
3. Your margin guardrails

This is how you lead your company into fall without burning out or bleeding margin.

➡️ Need help deciding where to start? Like this post and I’ll send you the key questions to ask yourself for each of these areas. You’ll bring more clarity to both your team’s work and yours so you can fulfill your company’s big- and important- vision. by @its.phenologic

You’ve been covering gaps all summer. So has your team.

But now it’s August. The patchwork you’ve been relying on- half-trained coverage, undocumented processes, “check with me if you’re not sure”- is about to hit its limit.

That approach may have worked during staff vacations, stalled projects, and general summer slowdown. Q4 won’t be so forgiving. Your partners, your sales cycle, and your ops are all about to demand more clarity, coordination, and speed. Every company you work with is gearing up to hit their 2025 goals. If you aren’t doing the same, you’ll be left behind.

Without a reset now, you’ll carry stress cracks into the busiest quarter of the year. That’s a serious risk to your growth and credibility.

How do you fix this so you can keep up with- and outperform- the pack?

You need more leadership precision.

Leadership precision is the difference between being busy and running a successful business.

It means leading with clarity, structure, and intentional decision-making, where nothing is left vague, reactive, or assumed.

➡️ Let’s break you out of your patchwork of systems and into precision leadership.

If you had to step away from your cannabis company for a week- with no warning- what would happen?

Would your team keep moving… or would everything grind to a halt?

This question reveals a lot about your company’s structure.

When your team over-relies on you for answers, it severely caps your growth and puts you on a fast track to burnout.

It’s a serious leadership structure problem… and most cannabis companies have it.

➡️ Here’s one quick action for you to take to solve it:

Pick a core function- sales, fulfillment, production, or admin.
Ask yourself: If I was offline for 7 days, what would break?

That’s where you start tightening things up. When you do that, the pressure lifts- and you start building a company that can run without you.

✔️ The real secret here is that taking a break is a critical part of your work. Down time is what allows you to lead at your best. by @its.phenologic

When was the last time you asked your team what their priorities are?

In the first few years of growth in your cannabis company, one of the biggest drains on your profits is unclear roles and fuzzy expectations.

When no one’s sure who owns what, or what ‘success’ looks like, your company pays the price.

Here’s how it shows up:

• Staff float between roles with no clear priorities.
• Tasks fall between the cracks, or multiple people step in too late.
• Resentment builds from fixing each other’s mistakes.
• You spend your time putting out fires instead of leading.

You have to break through this to turn your team from busy to profitable.

It’s one of the key profit leaks you’ll uncover by using my Profit Recovery Tool. By answering 10 quick questions, you’ll create a road map to better profits.

Everyone’s doing the task… but no one really owns it.

That’s how good cannabis teams end up frustrated, and how profit leaks form.

Unclear roles and weak expectations don’t just slow your company down.
They create resentment, rework, and rising labour costs that quietly kill your margin.

If your team is ‘busy’ but your profits aren’t growing, this is often a key reason why.

You’ve got strong instincts- that’s what got you here. But now that you’re scaling your cannabis company you need structure to back your instincts up.

Without clarity and structure for your pricing, time, and operations, you can’t take your company where you want it to go. Instead, you’ll circle the drain to burnout, debt, and closure.

You might not see it now, but without structure, it’s that drain is coming.

Where to start though?

When your cannabis company’s top-line revenue is up but cash still feels tight, you need to rethink what growth really means. At this stage, it’s success won’t come from more sales. You need more control.

Effective company leaders design control systems that make growth sustainable and profits consistent.

That means knowing:

• Which SKUs actually contribute to margin.
• Where operations are draining profits you could recover.
• How to plan for inventory turnover rates that always keep you in stock.

Systems like these boost your bottom line and protect your mission. They give you the financial stability to stay true to your values while scaling your business for lasting growth.
