“Seal? That’s not seal. No, you’re bbq’ing seal? You’re lying.” -🦭

For centuries, First Nations peoples along coastal regions of North America, from the Inuit in the Arctic to tribes in the Pacific Northwest, engaged in seal hunting as a vital tradition and means of sustenance. They developed intricate techniques and tools tailored to their environments, respecting the animals’ significance in their culture. Seal hunting provided not only food but also materials for clothing, tools, and art, demonstrating a deep appreciation for nature’s gifts. This practice underscored their sustainable relationship with the land and sea, embodying a profound respect for ecological balance that remains an enduring legacy of indigenous wisdom.

I was blessed enough to be able to take some seal meat home and bbq it myself. But of course i wanted to share this experience with friends. The results were amazing. The texture is very much like steak but it tastes like a fish.. i mean seal is a sea mammal so it makes sense

And to everyone who tried it😭🫶🏽 this experience warmed my heart beyond words. Love y’all ❤️❤️ by @its_daej
