Let me introduce you to my favorite sea slug of all time: the hooded nudibranch. These fairy-like, watermelon-scented sea slugs stole my heart almost 10 years ago and they are still my favorites to find. Especially the tiny babies!!

P.S. Don’t forget it’s officially Docktober, a community science project hosted by @luanimal 😎 If you go observe sea creatures under a floating dock this month make sure you upload observations to the project on iNaturalist!

What do you do with millions of zombie sea urchins? Researchers at Moss Landing Marine Labs and California Sea Grant are working on urchin ranching: feeding urchins from barrens to bulk up their uni and make them edible again. I just participated in their blind taste test, and honestly… they all tasted good! It was so fun to taste them all and notice the slight differences. Watch to the end to hear some preliminary results!

Thanks to @mbfishtrust and @westernflyerfoundation for helping to coordinate the public taste test 😎
