You hear stories about people you know who lose loved ones ….. you send your condolences out of habit without ever thinking they’d be saying those same words to you sooner than you thought. We go through life thinking that we always have tomorrow but it’s never been promised. Today is my sister’s 37th trip around the sun but she’s not here to celebrate. She was my other half, that little angel on my shoulder telling me don’t do it Gi, be nice. She blessed us with 3 little people who no longer have a mommy to call smh. We were suppose to be at Disney drinking around the world since you lost your passport. We had plans sissy….I wish we could go back in time and be more intentional like we always talked about. I miss you telling me we still have more to do…..I love you sissy. Happy Birthday love….Life sucks without you calling me every morning telling me to get tf up…. rest in peace 🙏🏽🥹 by @itsagithang

Previously one of the most dangerous cities in Medellin, Communa 13 was originally the perfect drug and arms trafficking location on the outskirts of the city due to the lack of government support and police.

For about 20 years the community was ruled by the Medellin cartel and Pablo Escobar. After much tragedy, bloodshed, and multiple bombings the government was able to regain control in 2002.

Today the city has transformed and the streets are filled with playful children, endless street art, and amazing residents who treat you like family while your there.
