To know me is to know that giving back is rooted deeply within my soul. This year for my birthday I had to remind myself through all my hardships that my purpose in this world is to make others smile. To further the children who come after me and plant the proper seeds to aide in building a positive community. With that being said it was nothing short of amazing to see the smiles and joys brought to these children’s face. This year they get to go to school in style with the best packs. 📚🎓 taken in Trinidad and Tobago by @itsaneyah

On September 13, 2003 you made me a an older sister, a position I cherished till your last moments. My love for you was indescribable and I only pray that you knew that. There were three versions of you: the one your family knew, the one your friends knew, and the one the world knew. But to me you’ll forever be my baby brother…

The one who slept anywhere and everywhere - even under the bed at times. The one who wanted to hang out with Amil and I just to be in the mix. The one who traveled with me and my mom to Trinidad on your first trip out the country. The one who had the goofiest personality of us all. The one whose smile could brighten up anyone’s worst day. The boujee youngest brother to the boujee youngest sister — they said it not us.

There’s so much I want to say but time won’t permit. So I’ll leave you all with this: Demetrius as the youngest sibling was loved immensely. He was an ambitious, loving, kind, goofy, and positive young man. He enjoyed being an Uncle to his niece - even though she’s older— and his nephews. While it pains me to know he will never experience being a father — something I know he’d love and be great at. Nor will my children get to meet their uncle. I am happy to have spent the last 22 years having him as a little brother.

Meech, my adopted baby brother, I will keep your name alive as I move through this world. While it’s no more the “younger siblings” it’s “Forever Meech”. I love you to the moon and back baby boy.

After over a decade of impact in Trinidad, it’s time to bring the Debbie Lewis Foundation’s mission to my home NYC, one of nations largest Caribbean diasporas.

What started as my mother’s vision to serve families and uplift communities in Trinidad has grown into something bigger — and now, we’re expanding our support to the Caribbean diaspora right here in New York City.

I’m honored to be leading the Foundation’s NYC initiatives, carrying on my family’s legacy of service while building new pathways for connection, empowerment, and community.

This is more than expansion — it’s evolution.
