I can’t believe it’s already been 1 year (Aug 18) since Steven died. It still feels so recent. I still expect him to walk through the door and even thought I saw him standing in the room a few times. Who knows, perhaps it was him. In the past year, I’ve learned to be a little kinder to myself, I meditate almost daily, eat better, drink less, and have recently rediscovered my old love for an exercise routine. I began teaching ESL online and have recently gone back to school. I want to write and do photography again, and I think that’s the biggest sign that I’m healing. While some people heal by creating art through their traumas, I tend to be crippled by mine, am unable to create, and become suspended in time. The fact that my mind has been flooded by ideas lately means I’m healing. What I’d like for the 1 year anniversary is for people to share their memories of Steven with me. I look forward reading all your stories. Much love, Monica xoxo by @itsangrand
IG memories just reminded me that no matter what angle I tried to shoot, I was and always will be the ‘Woman and Her Toilet.’ Can’t hide the truth! 🚽 @googleartsculture by @itsangrand
