Being an independent artist is tough.

And there's no shortage of advice out there telling artists to do everything, everywhere. But not enough people are talking about the basics - and doing them really well.

This is a real case study with the artist @baselsabri and how he sold out his first-ever headline show.

Million Vibes grew out of the friendships behind the music. Nigerian-born artist aRENYE met producer Stak at university. Making tracks together grew into a collective, with artists including Saint Lucian singer and rapper KAYO, Palestinian rapper BASYL and Lagos-born Afro-fusion artist Yung St4k finding their place in it.

They collaborated in the studio, showed up at each other’s gigs and started sharing stages. When promoters began booking them together, the name caught up with what they were already doing.

Now @million___vibes is helping shape the sound of East Coast music, bringing Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B and global fusion to new audiences and working with musicians across genres.

“We aren’t just performing; we’re building the infrastructure for global music on the East Coast,” says co-founder Stak.

On October 3, that work comes to the Marquee for The Million Experience, presented by @huffhalifax. aRENYE, KAYO, BASYL, Yung St4k, Badi, F$RGO and more will be backed by @kruxband, with an afterparty running until 2 a.m.

We’ve seen them live. The energy is infectious, the musicianship is seriously impressive, and they’re as lovely offstage as they are fun on it. You don’t need to know every song to have a very good night.

Come hear what they’re building in Halifax. Bring someone who hasn’t seen them yet.
