In 2016, I thought the happiest chapter of my life was beginning.

I was wrong.

The heartbreak wasn’t only about losing the person I loved. I was also grieving the entire future I had already envisioned with him.

At the time, I couldn’t imagine a way forward.

If I could sit beside that version of myself now, I would tell her:
Take a deep breath.
Take it one day at a time.
You are so much stronger than you think.

Ten years later, my life looks nothing like the future I planned.

Sometimes losing the plan is how we find a life we never knew to imagine.

If you’re facing something heartbreaking, you don’t need to see the entire way forward. Take a deep breath, then the next step.

Follow for honest stories and hard-earned perspectives to help you choose your next chapter with intention.

Would you like to see more conversations with my younger self about what happened next? Let me know in the comments below. 👇

How do you pack away five years of your life into one box?

And then drop it off at his apartment like he’s a complete stranger when just a week ago, he was the most important person your world?

If I could talk to my younger self, I’d tell her she doesn’t have to know how yet.

She was desperate for one more conversation that would help her understand.

One more explanation.
One more sentence that would finally help her make sense of it all.

But the person who walked away isn’t the person who can give us closure we need.

So write it down.

Write everything you wish you could say.
Everything you’re still trying to understand.

Give yourself the conversation you may never get to have.

Because sometimes, the closure we’re waiting for isn’t another conversation.

Sometimes, their decision to walk away is the closure.

We just need time to accept that.

Follow for Part 4 and save this for when you need a remnant 🤍

Some people love you when life is easy.
The rarest kind love you in the darkest time.
They get on a plane when you have nothing to offer.
They sleep on your couch when you can barely get out of bed.
They don’t need you at your best to love you.
They let you borrow their hope until you find your own again.
If you have a friend like that, send this to her. Tell her how rare she is.🤍

Follow for more of the real parts.

I’m starting a new series of conversations between Young Beca and Current Beca about heartbreak, rebuilding, and what happened after that moment.

So many of you have trusted me with your own personal stories and experiences. I’m incredibly grateful, and I don’t take that trust lightly. 🤍

I want these conversations to be shaped by you, too.

What would you like Young Beca and Current Beca to talk about next? Tell me below.

The day my wedding was called off, I didn’t just lose him. I lost me too.

Younger Beca would have done almost anything to keep the life she dreamed of.

If you’ve ever sat on the floor thinking, “I don’t even know who I am without this person,” I see you.

At that point, I couldn’t think about the rest of my life.

I just had to get through today.

Take a walk.
Step outside for a few minutes.
Let the sun hit your face.
Do one small thing that belongs to you.

You don’t have to find yourself all at once.

Little by little, we’re going to find her again.

Part 3 drops next week.

Send this to someone who needs to hear it🤍

What finally changed wasn’t just my skincare. It was how I responded to it.

I stopped chasing every new solution and did three things differently:

1. I found a dermatologist I trusted.
2. I committed to one routine long enough to give it a real chance. In my case, that included azelaic acid 15%, Arazlo, panthenol cream, and tinted SPF.
3. And I stopped letting one bad skin day decide how confident, worthy, or visible I felt.

The routine helped heal my skin.

But learning to separate my complexion from my self-worth changed much more than that.

Realizing I didn’t have to wait to look a certain way to fully show up in my life might have been the biggest shift of all.

Follow if you’re also learning to build your life with more self trust and intention 🤍

One of the hardest parts of a breakup is watching someone who knew you intimately become a stranger.

You knew his coffee order, his mom’s birthday, the scar on his knee. Now you could pass each other on the street like none of it happened.

That kind of grief is disorienting. Your life can change faster than your nervous system can process it.

He may be a stranger now, but there was a time when he felt like home. Both can be true.🤍

Follow for the real parts.

If you are not sure if your partner is the one for you, ask yourself these 5 questions:
1. Are you proud of who you become around them?
2. When you're around them do you feel more energized or more drained?
3. Do you feel safe enough to share the parts of yourself you're not as proud of?
4. If your best friend were dating someone like them, would you admire their relationship?
5. If you met them again, knowing what you know, would you choose them again?

The most useful thing might be noticing what the answers have been telling you for a while.

I struggle with focus more than I would like to admit.

My distractions seem small in the moment, harmless. Together, it can take hours off my day.

Focus isn’t something I can wait to feel. I have to create the conditions for it. Choose one priority before I begin, remove the distractions I can, and when my attention wanders, bring it back to what I chose.

I still get distracted. The shift is that I no longer expect focus to happen by accident.

The things I want, deserve my focused attention, not whatever is left after every distraction.

Six months after my relationship ended I was nowhere near healed. I still cried randomly in the grocery store parking lot. I kept thinking I was behind.
If you feel like it’s taking you too long to heal there is no such thing. There is no timeline. As long you’re taking care of yourself, you are doing enough. Stop comparing yourself to others.
Take your time. This is the season to build the foundation. Don’t rush it.
Save this for the days you need a reminder that you exactly where you should be🤍

The older I get, the more I realize how rare it is to have a friend who celebrates you without comparison, tells you the truth with your best interest at heart, and keeps showing up when it would be easier not to.

That kind of friendship is rare.

Send this to the friend you hope is in your life for the long haul.🤍

Follow for more raw, honest perspectives on building relationships with intention.

If you can’t stop thinking about them it might not be about them.
Your brain holds unfinished stories longer than finished ones. Psychologists call it the Zeigarnik Effect.

You don’t need their closure, you need your own ending.

Write the letter you never sent. Write the talk you wish you had. Write the apology you never got. Not for them. For you. So that YOU can close the tab🤍

Save this for the night you want to write it down and file it away.

I share one psychology backed tool each week to help us understand human patterns better.🫶
