ACL journey! Woah! Story tiiiiime :)

Back in March, I landed a leap improperly in an audition and felt a pop. I thought I just tweaked something but went home and rested. The swelling went down after a day and I chalked it up to being clumsy. But, after several more attempts at dancing and realizing my stability wasn’t there, I got it checked out in May. MRIs don’t lie, babe! The ACL had spoken and I had to give up quite a lot of my stubborn heel dragging and get that puppy fixed. I was still able to muster through a production of Joseph this summer through the amazing guidance of my PT and a champion @mayorgerrymac looking out for me. Then it was time for surgery.

My incredible, incomparable, kind and caring parents stayed with me and Ellie for over a WEEK after surgery - cooking me food, running my errands, walking my dog and cheering me on with every small victory I eked out in my recovery. Was a great lesson is letting yourself lean on the people who are there for you most.

And now - 2 months post-op, I’ve just opened this fulfilling, stunning, masterpiece of Ragtime at @fultontheatre. It didn’t come without fear, relying on the angels that are @lornaventura99 and @alton2459, trust and lots of panicked phone calls to @m_dikegoros. But we did it! And my god, what a show it is.

I suppose the point of me sharing this is for anyone going through something new and scary. Listen to doctors (they’re incredible), listen to your BODY (it’s even MORE incredible), and never doubt your own strength. You can get through hard times. The worst thing you can do is compare your journey to someone else’s, and it is so beautiful to let your path present itself to you when you’re doubting it the most. You got this. You’re amazing. (And truly, I’ll say it again, let your people take care of you. You are so loved and it feels amazing to let that in!)
