Why didnt anyone tell me it would hit like this?!? 😩😭 I knew this time was coming, I just wasnt ready🥹 ughh, anyways, onward and upward to 3-6M 😂😂 (Yes im dramatic) #FTM by @itsbriamonique

Kinda chic to grow, birth and nourish a whole human with your body✨

But kinda hard too😩

As #NationalBreastfeedingMonth and #BlackBreastfeedingWeek come to an end, I can’t help but think of my own breastfeeding journey. How beautiful it’s felt, but how difficult it’s been.

“Baby is having issues latching

waking up every 2-3 hours to feed

cluster feeding

sore nipples + persistent thrush

baby’s not gaining enough weight

pumping more to supplement

not making “enough” milk but still needing to build a stash for when I go back to work

baby still isnt growing fast enough

pumping after feeding

tongue + lip ties

trapped gas from improper latching

extra weigh-in appointments

crying over spilled milk (yes, its that serious)

judgmental eyes when you feed in public

wasted milk (also very serious),

and FREAKING REFLUX omg!!!”

Not to mention the mental gymnastics of coordinating and following the pumping/feeding schedule, trying to find time to eat, hydrating enough, oh and resting🙃

In today’s society having the time, resources and mental capacity to breastfeed makes it seem like a luxury. There’s no wonder so many mothers, especially Black mothers, decide to stop breastfeeding or choose not to breastfeed to begin with. It’s freaking hard!!

But, someway, somehow, mama, you’re figuring it out and getting the job done as best as you can. Whether you breastfed for a week, 6 months, a year or exclusively pumped, This month was all about you, celebrating you for your thankless sacrifice💕🫶🏾

Mallory Joel’s mommy🤍
Yesterday I celebrated my first Mother’s Day. I’m still over here trying to wrap my head around the fact that I’m really somebody’s mama, and to the most beautiful baby boy🩵 Ughh. God has been so good to me that in the darkest time of my life he blessed me with the greatest gift of becoming a mother. From long days, to longer nights- the cries, scary reflux moments, poopy diapers, sore nipples and all. My heart has learned to smile in ways I never knew were possible. My bestfriend @muvadij always used to say “this ish* aint easy, but I get the job done” and thats on period. Cheers to Motherhood💕🌸

🚨ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

In 2018 the Lord impressed on me to put ALLLLLL my business on blast for His glory. Lol I had no idea that what started as journaling would be brought to light on an online blog. Soon after, that blog would turn into a podcast, and now, a community for women who are on their personal journey to “Gods Kind of Beautiful.”✨

And after 6 very beautiful years, 30 episodes and 4 SOLD OUT events, it is time for The Good God Girl Podcast and platform as we know it to come to an end.

When I first started The Good God Girl, I was fresh out of college. I was very new in my faith and figuring out my identity in Christ. I was VERY single, and very much so a HOT MESS!

In a time where Christianity was being sugarcoated, the goal of The Good God Girl was to always kept it REAL for the purpose of being able to speak to a sis struggling to carry her cross, and encourage her to keep going!

From all my dating mistakes; growing pains; experiencing grief and loss; getting through nursing school, and even getting married! To our guests who have shared their journeys as well. Through it all, You witnessed how the Lord can rework us from the inside out, making sure to stretch us. Pruning off all the pieces that don’t align with His character, and then molding us to be more like him.

THAT is the epitome of what “Gods Kind of Beautiful” is and that is what the Good God Girl accomplished.

Although The Good God Girl chapter is closing in this capacity, Im grateful for all the Good God Girlfriends I’ve met along the way👩🏽‍❤️‍👩🏿 All the ladies that have tuned in to the podcast, supported events or was impacted by The Good God Girl in any way. This was a labor of love for YOU💗

I’m finally at peace with this pivot because I know this isn’t goodbye. It’s only a new season and I’m already excited for where the Lord is taking us on our next adventure together. Because there WILL be a next adventure!!

So I encourage all my girlies to stay connected and SIGN UP for the newsletter at thegoodgodgirl.com because when the time comes you’re definitely gonna want to be in the know👀

Until then, I LOVE YOU💕
Peace✌🏾 by @itsbriamonique

Oh, oh and I love my friends. Grateful to be in community with them☺️ by @itsbriamonique

Happy Valentines Day to my sweetest love🤍 by @itsbriamonique

Life lately

There’s something so refreshing about transitioning into a new year away from social media. I’m already a DND girlie📵but the last 2 months spent away from the distractions of scrolling the FYP, posting, and checking notifications has taken quite the load off my brain.

During my social media fast, I’ve been able to:
- spend more time in prayer and finding books I intend to read this year
- be more present and pour intentionally into my loved ones
- Hear Gods voice more clearly and gain a deeper understanding regarding the things I’ve prayed about

2024 was a big year for me, there was so much transition, and you really don’t realize how much you don’t process until your mind is at rest.

So cheers to entering this next year with a clear, refreshed and rejuvenated mind. I’m excited for all God has in store💕 by @itsbriamonique

I love our love, and I love that I get to love you forever🤍 Happy 1 year Anniversary, my love. by @itsbriamonique

Plan your marriage, not just your wedding. ✨
For our first wedding anniversary, my wife @briamferg and I booked a staycation just down the street @themarquettehotel It’s way too easy to fall into the habit of serving everyone else and neglecting the one who matters most. “Plan your life, lest you fall for someone else’s plan for your life.”

This celebration set the tone for our next 87.4 years together. Happy Anniversary Beautiful 💍♾️🤍🤎😘✨
