A quick summary on why I will always be at the Jesse H. Jones alumni picnic and treat it like a holiday. 💛🖤🤞🏾

The picnic means laughing every year about the time me, Brandy and Kee went nicca knocking in high school and drove off so Kee had to run to the car. It also means recognizing how dangerous that same game would be in current times.

It means being happy that Jill came again and standing on business about her being 04. It also means remembering love and watching expand 💛🖤

The picnic means sending my Mom my annual picture of me and my cousin Mike. It also means noticing we have similar features a little bit.

It means looking forward to taking that picture with Jas again. It means remembering her pink brick house on the corner lot and how excited I was the time I got to see what was inside.

It means seeing my favorite and lowkey getting excited about what he created for this year.

It’s about seeing AJ and his “we did it again” smile.

This year it meant I got to see both of the men who protected me (Kevin and his Dad) when that man tried to grab me on my walk to school that day. It’s crazy because they don’t even talk about it but that memory means so much to me.

Weekend Dump 🎥🧠

Some weekends are about rest.
Some are about building.

Friday kicked off with show run-downs and creative direction for @themove24.7 with my cousin Bre—ideas, structure, and what’s next.
Saturday was conversations + culture: talking @tedx_thirdward with @durrellkdouglas, then stepping into the Behind De Pole premiere directed by @michaelsterlingfilms (plus a quick cameo moment 🫶🏾). Bre and I also grabbed some “light” media coverage… aka stirring the pot on camera a little 😂
Sunday was very much in my element—media work and planning one of my favorite clients (shooting content and hoops), then wrapping the weekend recording BTS for @klassnsessionpodcast_. First show to record in the station, so shoutout to them for trusting the vision.

This is what building a creative life looks like for me—media, moments, community, and ideas turning into real things.

Trying to live without hiding your best parts is hard.

Our environments shape us. They become the soil our stories, our art, and sometimes even our survival grow from.

But creating something beautiful from where you come from doesn’t erase what those streets can leave behind.

PTSD is real. Survivor’s remorse is real. The weight of making it out when people you love didn’t is real.

That’s why there’s something powerful about artists like @cal_wayne who can take all of that—the pain, the memories, the lessons, the scars—and turn it into something that speaks for people who may not have the words yet.

Getting it out the mud sounds good until you remember what the mud actually cost.

Whew… sometimes even the planners gotta pivot.
I’m usually tapped in with everything happening in the city, but this one hit my radar last minute—on a day that was already packed. And still… I went. Because sometimes you just have to stop, breathe, and stand in the air of your dreams.

For years, I’ve watched TED Talks online, telling myself one day. Wanting to go in person, but lowkey scared to fully claim what I really wanted—which was to be on that stage, not just watching it.

This year though? We’re telling the truth about our dreams and taking the steps to meet them halfway. No more shrinking. No more playing small. Just faith, action, and alignment.

One day, this one is gonna happen.

When we tell you @wearethecityweparty gonna show out…we mean SHOW OUT! 🔥 Saturday night @knpsocial was wall-to-wall packed—grown & sexy crowd in all white, cocktails flowing, folks talking and joking, throwing axes 👀 and vibing to nothing but pure live band magic. 🎶

We even snatched @rashardthecity_ during intermission to talk about the show and where he got his “rizz factor” from 👀😂.

Houston showed up for Doughboy Sauce Day. 🤘🏾🔥

What @doughboysauce713 and The Load Foundation have built is bigger than an event. It’s what happens when somebody pours back into the same community that poured into them.

From the kids running from the waterslides to the petting zoo, horseback riding and mechanical bull, to live music, food, community resources and a whole lot of Houston love, BH Ranch was FULL of energy.

And the best part? It was free. Family-centered. Community-driven. Made for us, by us. Plus it was one of the scenes for the Cup music video by @doughboysauce713 featuring @trinidadjamesgg and produced by @fredonem

Because when Houston celebrates Houston, we’re always pulling up.
