Challah has taught me more about life than it ever has about baking.

Every week, it reminds me to slow down. To be patient. To let go of whatever I’m carrying and be fully present.

There’s something incredibly spiritual about taking simple ingredients and turning them into something that will bring people together around a table. Somewhere between the kneading, the waiting, and the braiding, the rest of the world gets quiet.

I’ve always felt that the energy I bring into the process matters. When I approach it with gratitude, good music, patience, and love, the experience feels different; and somehow, so does the challah. Whether that’s tradition, intention, or simply the care we put into what we create, it’s a reminder that the things we make often reflect the heart we make them with.

In a world that moves so fast, challah asks me to slow down. And maybe that’s the greatest lesson it’s ever taught me.

I hope everyone gets to experience that feeling at least once. 🤍
