My ability to figure shit out is truly unfuckwithable, and… I will probably always take risks that make a reasonable person sweaty af. 😂 But… in my 20s and most of my 30s I thought betting on myself meant doing it by myself. Or with people who were the same specific brand of insane. The mentors. The masterminds. The rooms full of people making equally unhinged bets. Those rooms gave me SO much, and I’m still in them. Buttttt… This year has been different. I’m building the biggest thing I’ve ever built, with the least resources I’ve ever had. I’m in a constant free fall of RISK. Some days I genuinely stand in the shower crying thinking… “this might fucking ruin me.” 🚫 On those days it’s not the 3 exit founder I’m looking for. 🤝It’s the ones who have no idea what I’m doing. They do not care about my TAM. Not one of them has asked about my CAC. Several would honestly love it if I got a normal job with health insurance. 🤣 They have no clue what I’m building, but they know WHO I AM, and apparently they are also willing to be on me… just because of that? OG Amanda would have being implementing a been duct tape and caffeine strategy to keeping this shit together. But my friends and family have been truly holding it down, together, and keeping it from fully floating away. They’ve… 🤍 Given me somewhere to land 🤍 Made sure I ate 🤍 Held me while I cried (against my will) 🤍 Given me an address for my mail 🤍 Watched my dog so I could work and travel 🤍 Dragged me on trips I desperately needed 🤍 Flown across the world to turn a shit day into a magical one. 🤍 Let me camp at their kitchen table with my laptop for 12 hours straight without judgement, just snacks 🤍 Called to check on me when my meme sending got suspiciously quiet 🤍 Listened to me explain the same problem for the 47th time 🤍 Celebrated wins they only vaguely understand 🤍 Reminded me who the fuck I am on the days I forgot. And never once made me feel like needing any of it meant I shouldn’t keep taking the risks. I still believe in betting on yourself, maybe more than ever. I just don’t think I need be the only one with access to my parachute anymore 🪂 by @itsdupuis
