another marathon season, wrapped. but this time… everything old was new again. new places, new spaces, new faces. feeling and seeing the roads through different lenses, even if sometimes in a blur.
•
track sessions and long runs and long runs ending in track sessions all with some real MVPs. hills for breakfast and stairs for lunch. crewing the crew to san diego. cheering our hearts out in the city I heart. breaking dawn on strands and trails near and far. road tripping and bell ringing to the very end. AND popping off a best in chi-town along the way? woo. team above self has always been the mantra, but damn if I didn’t get do both this season. ten years into this running thing and I sit here thrilled to embrace both we *and* me.

@goodvibes_tc thank you. you’ve cracked open the world of taking on chances and challenges with a confident passion. ‘good’ does not begin to describe this vibe, this crew, this community that can carry souls and soles with such beautiful power. the captains lead intentionally, with compassion and the squad —ah! the SQUAD— gives the most just by showing up. the space you hold in LA is so, deeply rooted and to have stumbled upon it: I’m grateful. 💐

if LA is going to be home, please let it continue to be this one that’s filled with jams of this running fam. my heart sings to these tunes of collective effort, support, success and connection. I sure do hope this playlist can stay on repeat a little while longer.

what’s something great that happened to you in the last week?

new jobs. success in familiar jobs. family time. puppy time. girlfriend time. simply that nothing bad happened last week.
.
a little #mimspiration and reminder to celebrate your great from members last night. after the year(s) of everything, @mileinmyshoes.mn has doubled down on its mission to break down barriers to community and stigmas around folks exiting incarceration and experiencing homelessness, creating more teams and more moments to celebrate greatness however it shows up.

music to my ears: a tech at memorial blood center tonight excitedly chatting with another donor about missing concerts. that it was no question to hold onto his tickets for the rescheduled show for his favorite band, rammstein. that when does get to go, he will be close enough to feel the music from the stage. that their music brings him alive. that their shows are something else.

gah. live music is just so f*cking special, isn’t it? zero interest in heavy metal, yet my heartstrings are pulled. it’ll return. promise. until then, here’s a crummy photo of @thundercatmusic bending sound and souls— the last show we caught before it all. #tbt. taken in The Wiltern by @itsemilydeeee

hey running / jogging / walking friends.

@mileinmyshoes.mn is a small, but f*cking mighty organization making real change to build community and break down barriers for formerly incarcerated peoples and the homeless.

I will gladly chat your ear off about it, but I'll also invite you to participate in the effort in a very easy way: join us for just one run/jog/walk, wherever you might be.
